Hey /o/, I've got an old 289 (c-code from a 1967 mustang, nothing special at all) that has been sitting in my garage a couple years, it ran but not well so it would need a rebuild. What would be some cool things to do with this? Not a whole lot of information online about smallblock ford swaps.

Give it to me

Hey guy, that does sound pretty cool. What would YOU do with it?
>>15165251
give it to the first person who asked, kind of like a brotherhood of the traveling engine.

Why is the fuel pump and oil pressure sender on the wrong side of the engine? This in Australia?
theres nothing to do with it really
not unless you want to dump a healthy amount of money into it
Rebuild it man. There's not a whole lot of original 289s anymore just a bunch of 302s. And a 289 is just a non emissions 302, so parts are the same.
I have a 66 c code aswell. Just rebuilt it and put trick flow heads, aluminum intake an a 4bl carb. Makes a good 400ish which is enough to move this light ass car.
Alternatively put the 289 away and drop a 351w in

yeah im calling bullshit on 400hp and there is a more difference than it just being a non emissions 302

sell that shit to mexicans

>400ish
lolno
unless you did more than a oem rebuild that shit probably isnt even close to 300

We already put a different engine in the car it was pulled from. There were non emissions 302s as well (the 1968 model had a 302 and it lacked all that emissions garbage), it was just a lower displacement engine, not exactly rare though. Rebuilding is appealing to me, already did a transmission and doing an engine would be fun I feel.
Also 400 does sound quite high, factory these made low 200s (can't recall exact number off the top of my head) so I can't imagine you nearly doubled it with that little work.

Kek, I don't think anyone would buy it in its current state.

400hp? I'd think more like 280-300 tops, if it's cammed...or less. Go dyno it and let us know
