the writers took old episodes of top gear, and ran with the same sentence structures, styles, and filmography. The filmography was excellent, and that's a good thing, it should have been the same. but with a whole new cast you can't reuse the same lines. I mean, the bit with the ariel nomad:

Just finished it, its not horrible, but without the trio it looks like just another car show.
I can already see the ratings for this.
1st episode: high because of interest/curiosity
2nd episode: still relatively high
3rd episode: moderate decline
4th episode: sharper decline
5th episode: everyone that was curious and didn't like it has given up by now, besides autistics that will probably last until the 2nd season

I honestly prefer the new cast. There's no reason that there shouldn't be more "minorities" (not actually the minority anymore) represented in a show so popular. The cast aside from Evans(Who needs to be taken out and shot) looked like they had some good points if they have some bonding time, Le Blanc especially has promise. Extra gear needs to be merged into the show, Harris is top tier.
They could have really done with not fucking the set up, like changing the interview format and making it a stage instead of just some seats in the crowd, and having all of those pink shirts.
Without Evans it has some good promise.
It really needed more input from Sabine. It's redundant to have both Stig and her since they both seem to have filled literally the exact same purpose.

Where TG excelled in their cast was not just that were friends, it was that they represented a lot of people.
Jeremy Clarkson was easy to relate to for people who just want shit to work, who likes outlandish humour and a good time. He has the personality of a dad from a sitcom, which most of us or our dads are like in one or two ways.
Richard Hammond was always interested in new things, he's always appealed to the part of us that enjoys seeking.
James May appeals the the boffins among us, he's very technical and fastidious, but we are all in our own ways.
This sort of dynamic is sometimes called the "Night Before Christmas" dynamic and it allows us to feel empathy or a bond with people we've never met.
New Top Gear doesn't have this; you have a loud annoying used condom and a guy who likes driving cars, but can't plug a coolant leak - both of which are traits no one sees in themselves, even if they are apt.
We’re not worried. Our customers watch Top Gear for its automotive content, not its bantz and host interaction. I predict our Clarkson-free NU Top Gear will sell even better than its previous brand.
