Hey /o/
Just looking for some quick advice. I currently drive a 2008 Lancer, and am looking at trading it in for a 2006 Magnum R/T (I've loved these cars since I was a kid) with the 5.7l HEMI.
Now I know Dodge/Chrysler products from this era are not the most reliable, and the HEMI has a reputation for dropping valve seats, is this something I should be concerned about or is it fairly uncommon? I don't think I could afford an engine replacement.
As always, thanks.
Pic related, current car
In the market for a LX platform Magnum as well. Stay the fuck away from any 2.7L car and any 2005 model. 2006 and 2007 are good, but 2008 is the best year of all of them. SXT, RT, or SRT8 are good. Keep in mind that the 4speed auto is one of the worst transmissions ever made, however you only got it in LX cars that didn't have a V8, or AWD.
Also, if it has "upgraded alternator", "heavy duty battery", "upgraded sound system" or chrome dubs its been fucked by some nigger.

No it's stock, very clean, 138k kms. 5-speed auto.
5.7 RWD

I've owned a 2006 Charger RT for 4 years and never had problems aside from a few minor electrical issues like oil / wheelspeed sensors. Those were easily and cheaply fixed. I bought it at 120,000KM and its now sitting at 235,000km.
I'd still be driving it if I didn't just get my new Charger SRT 392.
Also for shits heres a 300 with the magnum front end. LX thread?
Those aren't what I'd call low numbers, but doesn't seem too common.

The Mangum is still on the LX platform right?
If so, then the biggest pro you having going for you is that the LX platform is a hybrid with Mercedes and shares a ton of parts with the W211 E Class and the W220 S class.
The biggest con is that it's still a Chrysler, and the interior build quality was awful, and the engines DID have issues....I'm note sure if the Magnum got the Mercedes 5 speed transmission, if they do, those are rock solid

Yep 5-speed, platform is supposed to be good. Coming from a Mitsubishi I'm used to meh interior quality, test drove and it was acceptable interior.
That 340hp/390ft.lb is whats tempting me. Just don't wanna have it die.

The platform is good. Essentially, you're getting a an American version of the AMG E55 Wagon.
Like anything else man, the later the model year, the better, as they resolved issues as time went on. The SRT-8 Magnum is essentially the same car as the SRT-8 Charger from what I understand, and those have been fairly issue free so far as the drivetrain is concerned

Yeah man, not the SRT but I'm thinking you're right. 88 Complaints for it isn't even that much.

Quite a few complaints about the fuel system fucking up too and causing engine stuttering/flooding.
