SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT
Only the M's are worth the money, even then, not really.
I have both. Disappointed by neither, regretting neither.
I've got an E34 525i. It's good.
>missing out on the E38 V12s
>missing out on E30 325i
>missing out on...
Long list I'd have to make here. They made good cars, so why would I regret buying a fun car?

>7 series
>not moneypit
I heard that the engine is really good and reliable, unlike rest of the technosorcery of it's time that was crammed into the car, but it only came with fagomatic.

There aren't that many V12 luxo-GTs with manuals. And the 7 series is a luxobarge, not a sportscar.
>buy 3000gt from one of poorest towns in state
>it's an SL with unknown mileage

I know this feel.
>he bought a gs430 thinking it was faster than a gs400 only to be slower and miss out on e-shift

That's the case with almost all the BMWs. I've never had any engine related issues, it's all accessory bits.
Which is cool, because I never have to worry about my car not starting in the morning.
but you do have to worry about
>one side of the power seat cable failing so the whole backrest twists
>weird issue with the power mirrors where they intermittently will only go up and to the right, so I have to move them down and to the left by hand
>suspensions on more luxurious models are too fragile for shitty American roads
>automatic transmissions going kaboom
>radio antenna wiring going bad
>displays losing pixels
etc.
i've owned 6 BMWs, currently own a 2003 7 series, a 2003 e46 325 and a 1995 e36. Excellent cars, fun to drive, cheap maintenance, very tough engines.

>Still buying a luxobarge that's neither luxury nor sport
>>15140435
He gets it. I don't think I'd put up with the bullshit my E36 M3 gives me if it was a 325i. I'd sooner buy a Miata or a RX8 if that were the case. The only BMWs that get a pass are E30s and older, or something like a newer 135i/335i or a swapped 318ti.
At this point due to cost and the ability to just fucking function properly a E30 325i is better than the m3, and the E39 540i is better than the M5

>ability to fucking function properly
>30 year old german car with early electronics, horrible rot issues, and old original plastic/wiring bits
neither of which will be daily driver material anyways. maybe 10 years ago.
