What's the issue with drilled/slotted rotors? I was just shopping for some brake kits as a possible upgrade and noticed the pre-drilled/slotted ones were more expensive (paying more for less brakes lol) for some reason. I've been told it's for heat dissipation or weight reduction but it doesn't look like it makes a huge difference.
>>
>>15134547
Strange thing is, there is no pattern to drilling
>>
>>15134547
Why do you think drilled brakes are a bad thing?

>>15134784
It increases the surface area for heat dissipation. Weight reduction is negligible.
>>
>>15134789
Yes there is. They do thermo simulations to see how the heat flows. Then they test them.
>>
>>15134784
If you are going to use it on street, but non drilled-slotted ones. Upsides are just so small. Downside is, it raises the chance of cracking rotors under rapid heating and cooling.

I cannot believe how much of a difference there is between brembo irons and brembo CC setups.

I was not a believer. Then I drove a car with them. Worth every penny, but you will hate the brakes in every other car.

What manufacturer makes the LaFerrari?
>Ferrari
What is the name of the car in question that this manufacturer makes?
>LaFerrari
Therefore it is the Ferrari LaFerrari. It doesnt matter how much of a special snowflake the ferrari people think their car is. Of course car and driver is going to go along with whatever ferrari says, and any faggot can change wikipedia. The fact is that a car is identified by make (the name of the manufacturer, in this case Ferrari) and then the model (LaFerrari). Some examples:
>Porsche 918
>McLaren P1
>Bugatti Veyron
>Ferrari LaFerrari

Holes in carbon actually makes it stronger

Cool way of securing the calipers there. Looks like it was designed for speedy brake changes, I wish more cars were like this.

Also what car is this?

Drilling through a rotor increases stress risers or whatevers it's called in English, and they're more prone to cracking. They make a marginal addition to heat dissipation, but they look cool.
Slots are actually pretty good, they ensure even pad wear.

Varbon ceramics are completely different from steel though.

Yeah, figured they were either aftermarket or on a racing car.

Most interesting caliper design I've seen personally was on a C6 Grand Sport. The front calipers have six pistons, and each piston has a small separate pad, so instead of having two pads per caliper there are six little ones. The pads are held in by the torx slider pins. The rear is the same setup but with four pistons per caliper.

Not sure what the advantage of this setup is.

Ferrari hasn't been relevant in awhile... they've lost the plot and only cater to the most supreme of badge whores.
>>
>>15137321
It would be HX-5 (for the existing Mazda3) if you want to be creative. You would probably want the car to have one identity for marketing purposes though, so it would just be SX-5 Hatchback.

>I've been told it's for heat dissipation or weight reduction but it doesn't look like it makes a huge difference.

You are aware that rotoers are hollow due to those air channels. Remember that the rotoer is spinning at a pretty good speed. The centrifugal action of the rotor creates a pretty good air pressure. The holes reduce the amount of air resistance for the air flowing through those channels, thus more air can flow to cool the rotor.

Since the radial speed is different at different locations on the rotoer, that affects the air pressure. Thus, there is a pattern to how the holes are drilled in order to take advantage of the varying speed and pressure as the rotor goes from 500 RPM to zero RPM for city driving speeds. 800 RPM is about 60 MPH (varies according to tire size of course).

The problem with Ferrari is that they don't have attractive hood ornaments. If they only had more hood ornaments like in this picture, LaFerrari would be more popular.

Those hoods are made of aluminium, so this would actually damage them pretty well beyond repair. Hell, ou can damage them just by closing them incorrectly. A fully grown adult crawling over them is going to trash them.

>Those hoods are made of aluminium, so this would actually damage them pretty well beyond repair.

I was at a bodyshop and mentioned the girl on the hood with her shoes. The bodyshop guy said they have to be replaced because her damage is too excessive. The aluminum stretches and cannot be bent back into shape unless the owner is willing to accept a permanently dented wavy hood.

There's no way the girl didn't know the hood was severely dented. She also crawled on multiple cars so she knows she's crumpled quite a few hoods. It's got to be deliberate. She's just hiding her deliberate vandalism by pretending to be cutely posing on top of car hoods. So if Liz_Mau5 gets caught, she will just play dumb and cute. But she's ruined multiple ferrari.

They just hate what they can't understand. It was like that decade after decade as cars and their accessories continued to evolve. Do you remember when people made fun of clearcoat when it started to appear for lots of cars? There were lots of lacquer paint lovers back then that loved the "in your face" look of lacquer.

Im not that old but I do know lacquer coats are short lived, yellowing, zero scratch/haze resistant garbage. Lunched a set of headlights thinking I could use clear acrylic lacquer to seal them up after sanding
