What's the issue with drilled/slotted rotors? I was just shopping for some brake kits as a possible upgrade and noticed the pre-drilled/slotted ones were more expensive (paying more for less brakes lol) for some reason. I've been told it's for heat dissipation or weight reduction but it doesn't look like it makes a huge difference.

Drilling through a rotor increases stress risers or whatevers it's called in English, and they're more prone to cracking. They make a marginal addition to heat dissipation, but they look cool.
Slots are actually pretty good, they ensure even pad wear.
Varbon ceramics are completely different from steel though.

Most interesting caliper design I've seen personally was on a C6 Grand Sport. The front calipers have six pistons, and each piston has a small separate pad, so instead of having two pads per caliper there are six little ones. The pads are held in by the torx slider pins. The rear is the same setup but with four pistons per caliper.
Not sure what the advantage of this setup is.

You are aware that rotoers are hollow due to those air channels. Remember that the rotoer is spinning at a pretty good speed. The centrifugal action of the rotor creates a pretty good air pressure. The holes reduce the amount of air resistance for the air flowing through those channels, thus more air can flow to cool the rotor.
Since the radial speed is different at different locations on the rotoer, that affects the air pressure. Thus, there is a pattern to how the holes are drilled in order to take advantage of the varying speed and pressure as the rotor goes from 500 RPM to zero RPM for city driving speeds. 800 RPM is about 60 MPH (varies according to tire size of course).

I was at a bodyshop and mentioned the girl on the hood with her shoes. The bodyshop guy said they have to be replaced because her damage is too excessive. The aluminum stretches and cannot be bent back into shape unless the owner is willing to accept a permanently dented wavy hood.
There's no way the girl didn't know the hood was severely dented. She also crawled on multiple cars so she knows she's crumpled quite a few hoods. It's got to be deliberate. Im not that old but I do know lacquer coats are short lived, yellowing, zero scratch/haze resistant garbage. Lunched a set of headlights thinking I could use clear acrylic lacquer to seal them up after sanding
