blending in doesn't bother me the slightest, in fact I prefer it.

less attention from thieves and police.

Besides, the highest selling sportbike (yes, more than fireblades and S1000RR's) here in 2015 was the 899 panigale so you'd be doing a bad job trying to stand out by buying something like that these days, if you want to stand out, ride an RGV250 or something.

What's a good budget ADV bike? I've been looking for something that's comfy for mostly long distance highway rides, plus some twisties and dirt road adventures. I'd love an 800GS but they seem pretty expensive.

Why would they? lorenzo's was a fresh-ish engine that went pop anyway, not an old one.

Why would there be any indication that what happened would happen again? that it wasn't simply a one off mechanical defect and a unique circumstance? these yamahas don't blow up much.

I'm sure if rossi felt his engine needed to be swapped they would have done it, there's no logical bed to rest on in terms of swapping the engine other than paranoia though.

We don't even know if he had swapped the engine that it wouldn't have popped as well soon it was a fresh lorenzo engine that went, then it'd be all "why did they swap the engine?"

So I just had my first real close call.

Was going around a corner, TOTWing all my shit. Now, I know this corner. I've taken it dozens of times. No issues. There used to be a steel plate in the lane, but they patched it over like a week ago. Towards the exit, there was a brand new giant fucking pothole that I didn't even see. My front tire didn't hit it, somehow. Or maybe it did. But my rear tire left the road with the bike still leaned probably 20 or 25 degrees, and I'm going at least 45. So now, my rear tire is in the fucking air, not in line with the direction I'm moving. It comes down and slides probably 15 feet, catches, and lurches me. Nearly high sided, but didn't try to be a hardass on the handlebars. Fishtail probably 5 times. Bike straightens, I shit myself, finish the run, and go the fuck home. Not pushing my luck tonight. Something's out of sync.

If my front tire had hit that pothole, I don't know if I would have saved it.

That being said I expect they both get engines on the same schedule. So if one is bad, so might be the other.

you sure about that? i don't know the exact rules but i know they only have 7 engines total. sounds too restrictive that they can't use them how they want to. if lorenzo's problem had been diagnosed, they should be able to swap rossi's if they wanted to. 0 points for two races basically ended rossi's season

I can only imagine the horror; all those stalls, drops, shitty shifts and clutch dumps, drops, no real speed to let them breathe a bit, drops, etc.

On an unrelated note I went on my first group ride today. Lunch and 120 miles of scenic back roads in western Iowa; staggered formation of about a dozen bikes altogether, mostly nice older folks on Harleys. Got a bit of a laugh out of the leader's Harley at idle; the engine looked like it was trying to shake itself right out of the frame, literally wiggling and shaking with every revolution.

Need advice on bikes. Im looking at 3 bikes at three moment

Suzuki s50 800cc with 42000km Black 2006
Suzuki M50 800cc with 23000km Midnight Purple 2007
Honda Shadow Aero with 18000km Black 2007

All three are around the same price. Any recommendations on any of these? I mainly do highway and city riding.

Was originally going to get a Klim Badlands suit for $1800 but would rather spend $800 on motocross style armor + jersey and save the extra grand for getting life goin when I get to Cali.

Also, seriously doubt a 30 lbs Klim jacket is even close to as cool as that Leatt.

you can class dual sport and enduro under the same category m8.

youre comparing supermotos to enduros/dual sports

Got a black old model Bell Star I wear in the mountains, an RSD old model Bell Star Carbon for the track (was pissed when I bought that and Bell bought out the new ones 8 months later) and a Speed & Strength SS1500 I got for $40 on a MC Superstore daily deal for street riding when I'm not doing anything aggressive. Like the flip down sunshield in it, don't know why that helmet didn't sell better. S&S's build quality sucks, but for the price (even before it was on stupid liquidation) it's pretty good. The inflatable cheekpads didn't work straight out of the box, but I bought a helmet that's actually the correct size so I never missed them.

you legally need a DOT helmet anyway to ride (i think) SNELL does a more thorough testing. the safest helmet is the one that fits you snugly without being too tight or loose.(safety approved obviously) all my course needed was a helmet at least 3/4, but full face is best anyway. long sleeve shirt of some kind, pants, boots, and gloves. gardening gloves work fine. some ladies used em.

I'm thinking about getting back into bikes.

When I was in 5th grade up until I graduated highschool, I tore up the local forest trails on a 1974 2-stroke Yamaha TY-250 trials bike, I really miss it.

At the same time there is no way I could justify buying one unless I could drive to work and back, about 7 minutes away with a max speed of 25.

To get to the trails I need to go about 45-50.

What is a good dual sport bike that is more offroad oriented? Preferably something light.
