Hey o. Can you recommend me a fun and reliable sports car that has no electronic/computer assists?
>no ABS
>no TCS
>no STM
>no DBW (drive by wire)
>no AT
>no electronic/computer assists, etc
I want to know what it feels like to drive a real sports car.
>>15108327
GT86
Miata fits that bill very well.
Earlier models had no electronic nannies, and are dead reliable.
E36 M3
I think
Elise.
>>15108327
Caterhams
>>15108345
I was thinking about this one. What was the last year for nannies?
>>15108366
Anything less expensive under 20K?
>>15108367
We never got those in burgerland unfortunately
Fun and reliable, if making things reliable is your idea of fun.
>>15108327
>no abs
Good luck
MR2
>>15108421
>he doesn't know how to threshold break
>>15108434
which one?
Fozbody mustangs fit the bill, if you don't mind doing the work to fix the handling.
>>15108383
A country where you can't have anything you damn well feel like.
That's so.... un British.
>>15108456
>doing the work to fix the handling
don't listen to him, it can't be fixed
huh, I always thought o liked raw unassisted sports cars
I guess not..
>>15108453
aw11
>>15108383
>Anything less expensive under 20K?
A used Elise
>>15108327
Buy a Caterham. Then quickly sell it as you realise you need all that shit to control a car.
Literally, the only assists it has are what you install.
Pretty sure they sell them in the US. Or build your OWN lightweight sports car, from a donor car and scrap steel!
>>15108580
used elises cost more than 20k here
>>15108584
>you need all that shit to control a car
No, you actually don't. Also there are no caterhams in burgerland and I would perfer to have a production car that's already built.
>>15108553
>/o/
>liking cars
That was a good one, anon!
>>15108383
>We never got those in burgerland
If 1973 is too new for your 25 year rule then you're not trying hard enough.
The base car is from the 1957 as Caterham bought the rights to produce the Lotus Seven.
>>15108604
You now realise that they have been able to ship them to your door since you were born.
Man up and take one for the team. :)
>>15108641
>>15108610
Are these even reliable?
I get the idea of convertibles, but where is the roof?
>>15108347
This
Or the Z3M
>>15108660
both of those cars have ABS
>>15108666
Pull the ABS fuse then
>>15108676
In case you didn't catch my trips, ABS is the devils work. Also, it's not that simple.
>>15108659
Reliable,,, I guess it depends on the engine it has. I guess a Toyota powered one would be reliable, or maybe Ford or any engine you fancy.
>>15108659
Roofs and doors are extras though most people never admit to owning them. A heater is a standard thing in some markets.
More power has started to take a back seat to fun as they've pretty much established how much power is more than enough.
>>15108383
>We never got those in burgerland unfortunately
The Caterham website says there's a dealer in my state. So I guess they sell them, but they aren't street legal?
I wonder if you could get it registered as a motorcycle. Then you could go hooning on the street, you'd just have to wear a helmet.
>>15108707
>>15108710
>>15108731
I really like the Caterham and it is a true sports car, but is it too much to ask one with a roof, windows, doors, and a trunk?
>>15108743
*for a car
>>15108743
>one with a roof, windows, doors, and a trunk?
They make those.
>>15108763
I would if I could
Try an Ariel Atom. It grew a 500 hp v8 especially for the US market and is road legal in the land of its birth.
>>15108743
This one is made by Westfield, but itÅ› still the same car.
>>15108743
>but is it too much to ask one with a roof, windows, doors, and a trunk
You can have the first two and if you want the latter you have look for a picnic basket.
Heck next you'll be wanting air con and and somewhere to plug your phone.
Heathen ;)
>>15108434
This, this, 1000 times this.
>>15108863
>>15108795
these are track/race cars
not sports cars
>>15108743
Caterham tried for the "sports car" look at one point with the "21" and it sold like lead underpants.
>>15108887
You can DD a motorbike. live a little.
There were at least half a dozen of these and if the Blackpool factory still existed they'd cheerfully double the run for you.
>>15108443
>>15108443
>he doesn't know how to spell brake
>>15108887
Define sports car.
>>15108743
>is a reply to two pictures of caterhams with roofs, windows, and doors
On the Seven-160 it's in that black thing snapped at the back iirc
>wants a trunk
Buy something else instead of trying to change a niche car
>>15108963
at least I can drive a car not made for soccer mom babies cause muh safety
>>15108980
op here
I want a sports car, not a dedicated track/race car
>>15108997
If you mean a Miata then why not come out and say it.
>>15108997
Yes, we get that you have a very specific definition of sports car that you haven't given.
You aren't going to find both in an inexpensive production car unless you just want to remove the assists from something.
Just buy an NA Miata without powersteering, or remove it.
>>15108997
>wants autismobile with no assists or anything whatsoever
>wants it to be practical
>>15108327
A civic em2 non-ex
Ok I'm going to have to go there.
MGB.
Hey, Mazda did.
>>15109015
Miata is an option, but then again there are a lot of other cars from the 80's and 90's with no assists either that aren't track cars.
>>15109018
>You aren't going to find both
Most cars from the 80's and 90's have no electronic assists
>>15109028
Track cars are meant for the track, and yes there are sports cars without assists that can be daily driven.
Do you guys just not like older mass produced cars, or what's going on here?
>>15109079
>Sportscars available in burgerland.
Name four.
This is a sportscar you can take the kids to school in.
>>15109144
>Name four.
four what?
four sports cars without electronic aids you can buy used in the US?
>>15108327
4AGE swapped TE71 or an AW11.
>>15108327
Buy a Go-Kart
>>15109058
came here to post this, either MGBGT or triumph GT6
>>15109619
that's not a 3SGE
Gotta have the BEAMS
>>15110057
Also forgot to make thread related, a carburetor conversion
>>15108686
Disconnect abs unit. Easy as shit
>>15110071

>>15110039

>>15108345

>sports car
>>15108327
>Can you recommend me a fun and reliable sports car that has no electronic/computer assists?
McLaren F1 :DDDD
>>15108327
motorcycle
>>15108453
Aw11 for sure. I daily one, and it doesn't even have power steering. I love it
>>15108327
Not sure about electronics but the original early 90s nsx would be fun.
>>15110245
See that little silver box on the left? That's the ABS module. Trace the wiring and pull it from whereever its connected to.
AE86. Most came with power steering but you can swap a manual rack from an AW11 in. Front engine so easier to work on than AW11. RWD means it has a more typical sports car feeling. Has a trunk or hatch plus rear seats so you don't totally compromise usability. 4AGE is a reliable enough engine for its age. Downsides are price and slowness relative to newer cars. Getting off the line can be a pain if you care about beating Hyundai Sonatas at every stop light like an autist. Feels fast regardless and carries speed through turns better than many other cars.
Miata is a more realistic but similar choice if you don't want an 80s look and don't want to pay $6-8k. Sounds like balls compared to the 4AGE though, so you lose "muh motorsports feeling."
>>15113118
>AE86
Solid rear axle
Do not want
Ever
