Hey o. Can you recommend me a fun and reliable sports car that has no electronic/computer assists?
>no ABS
>no TCS
>no STM
>no DBW (drive by wire)
>no AT
>no electronic/computer assists, etc

I want to know what it feels like to drive a real sports car.

Miata fits that bill very well.
Earlier models had no electronic nannies, and are dead reliable.

Buy a Caterham. Then quickly sell it as you realise you need all that shit to control a car.

Literally, the only assists it has are what you install.
Pretty sure they sell them in the US. Or build your OWN lightweight sports car, from a donor car and scrap steel!
>>
>>15108580
used elises cost more than 20k here

No, you actually don't. Also there are no caterhams in burgerland and I would perfer to have a production car that's already built.

If 1973 is too new for your 25 year rule then you're not trying hard enough.
The base car is from the 1957 as Caterham bought the rights to produce the Lotus Seven.

Reliable,,, I guess it depends on the engine it has. I guess a Toyota powered one would be reliable, or maybe Ford or any engine you fancy.

Roofs and doors are extras though most people never admit to owning them. A heater is a standard thing in some markets.
More power has started to take a back seat to fun as they've pretty much established how much power is more than enough.
>>

>We never got those in burgerland unfortunately
The Caterham website says there's a dealer in my state. So I guess they sell them, but they aren't street legal?

I wonder if you could get it registered as a motorcycle. Then you could go hooning on the street, you'd just have to wear a helmet.

You can have the first two and if you want the latter you have look for a picnic basket.
Heck next you'll be wanting air con and and somewhere to plug your phone.

>>
>>15108997
Yes, we get that you have a very specific definition of sports car that you haven't given.
You aren't going to find both in an inexpensive production car unless you just want to remove the assists from something.
Just buy an NA Miata without powersteering, or remove it.

>>

Miata is an option, but then again there are a lot of other cars from the 80's and 90's with no assists either that aren't track cars.
>>15109018
>You aren't going to find both
Most cars from the 80's and 90's have no electronic assists
>>15109028
Track cars are meant for the track, and yes there are sports cars without assists that can be daily driven.

Do you guys just not like older mass produced cars, or what's going on here?

AE86. Most came with power steering but you can swap a manual rack from an AW11 in. Front engine so easier to work on than AW11. RWD means it has a more typical sports car feeling. Has a trunk or hatch plus rear seats so you don't totally compromise usability. 4AGE is a reliable enough engine for its age. Downsides are price and slowness relative to newer cars. Getting off the line can be a pain if you care about beating Hyundai Sonatas at every stop light like an autist. Feels fast regardless and carries speed through turns better than many other cars.

Miata is a more realistic but similar choice if you don't want an 80s look and don't want to pay $6-8k. Sounds like balls compared to the 4AGE though, so you lose "muh motorsports feeling."
