Weird, why haven't I heard of their reliability issues? Hypothetically Elon Musk said Tesla are the most reliable cars on the market because of how they are design:
-simple drive train means fewer parts and not complicated like an internal combustion engine
-21st century technology instead of 20th century
This alone should make Tesla more reliable.

Yea feel sorry for the guy, besides his insistence on Macs/Teslas being superior he's not an asshole. I seriously don't know what he will do when the car goes out of its 55k miles warranty especially since he's already at 30k miles and he already needed like 5-6 12V battery replacement.

They have a lot of reliability issues with the drive motor, door handles, and some other interior things. It's why Consumer Reports took back their good reliability rating for the Model S.

He didn't understand that he was a guinea pig when he signed the contract. They made the model S look sporty instead of economical because they wanted to appeal to both markets. The more people that buys into the hype = the more cars sold = bigger sample size to adjust parts and maintenance going forward with new models based on customer feedback.

This news guy explained it pretty well, a lot of it is just a few isolated incident and/or user failure. He owns a Tesla himself and he's probably one of the most trusted guy known for his unbiasness.
