Immediately after revving you hear this whining sound. Doesn't matter if it's on a cold start or rolling. The higher RPMs I rev too, the louder and longer the whine is. This doesn't happen when idling or normal driving.

What could this possibly be? I didn't have this before until a couple months ago. 06 Mustang GT

alternator, ac pump, air pump. something running off the crank.

I got a new alternator a couple months back. I don't remember the sound before that.

Anyway to check it without having to take off my belts and pumps 1 by 1?

Replace it under warranty

It's new and charges fine, you sure that could be it?

I only hear the sound immediately following high RPM revving
>>
its a fucking ford, how has no one mentioned the power steering pump?

I just checked a video I made long before I changed the alternator, it still made that sound.

But it didn't make in another video I took 2 months prior..

Should I change the fluid? Could that be it?

Shit has 105k miles on it and probably factory fluids.

it's making the sound the whole time you just don't hear it till the exhaust stops making noise.

it's something being driven by a belt. like the alternator, one of the pumps, or a pulley/idler. that's why it sounds like a supercharger.

unlikely but also possible is intake noise.
