Anyone else have road rage encounters? Was cruising along behind a truck and this Mexican dude was parallel to me and nearly clipped me twice so i smacked his mirror with my hand and yelled at him then sped off. He followed me down some side streets and got out and ran towards me at a stop but i lost him. I love wheelies.
I mostly keep them to my DRZ but i occasionally yank my b-king into the air too. I can do fairly decent wheelies on both but drz would get less trashed in a wreck from them than a street-bike.
Just find good places to do them.
Country roads/remote places/empty lots are a great place. I know what you mean about the feeling - wheelies just feel gud.

Yes. I crash mine all the time without any real damage.
The engine cases are still magnesium though so if you happen to drop it on a rock in just the right way it will break them, or even punch a hole through them. Still a lot less common than the really wide I4s that rub a hole through them in a simple lowside crash on flat pavement.

I do a lot of on road but I like hopping curbs, jumps, hitting trails. I do a very solid 50/50 riding. Maybe 60% road 40% offroad at best.
I want a good mix and not to have to switch wheels/tires all the time. I also like that these tires are good for more than double the mileage of others.
Then also just because it looks a lot better.
It's my 4th drz400 and my 1st drz400sm. Rest were S models with dirt wheels. I'll warrant they were better offroad but I have no issue with my 17" wheels doing trails/gravel/jumps either.

CGs are just shit at all forms of fast riding in my experience. I came off mine many times. Remove front mudguard, put knobbly tyres on, remove tank, wrap ignition coil in black tape, refit tank, hurrah. Still shit on road but good fun places where you don't need huge ground clearance

Because unless you're at the track or the lines are deteriorating, rubber gets the job done just fine.
The braking components at the handlebar will contribute more to the feeling than the lines. Put steel lines on a small, weak master cylinder and they will still feel soft.
