I've found a '09 KLR asking $3200. This would be my very first bike. It's ten hours away, though he said would meet me halfway. (Five hours for me there and then five hours back.)
My concerns:

Works well. I use it on bicycle chains and motorcycle chains. I suggest using a penetrant first to free up and muck in between the links. After wiping away the excess, apply the chain lube liberally and use a soft tooth brush to scrub off anything that looks like it isn't suposoed to be there. A soak bath in some kind of cleaner has the same effect. It will be a drippy mess, just FYI.
Some people prefer paste lube with brush applicator. It's up to you.

A lot of the time when I try shifting into 2nd gear, I actually hit neutral.
I believe I'm stomping firmly enough on the shift lever and engaging the clutch enough, but it constantly goes into neutral instead of 2nd.
Beyond 2nd though, I don't seem to have a problem going up the gears.

Possibly. I had to alter the position of my foot when I first got my bike because I had a similar problem. I had to move my foot forward so I had more leverage. Using the ball of my foot over the shifter instead of my toes.
