Yeah well to tell the truth the clutch on the DL1000 is shit due to it being hydraulic, has the smallest friction zone.
The throttle response lag is due to it using a secondary throttle butterfly setup, if you remove them it is heaps better.
So I posted my ninja 250 out on local classified site for 1.3k and had no buyers so far. This is first weekend ad has been up.

If you stay at or below 50mph it'll do you well.
It's not that they can't do anything above 50, it's just that they don't have much guts and you feel it at higher speed, especially once you're going 80+.
Plus they're geared fairly short so you'll be turning high-ish rpm's at 70+. My Ninjette will sit on 9k at 70mph.
Don't go into it expecting it to be fast and you won't be disappointed.

I am currently hesitating with an sv 650 n. But those bikes are hard to find where I live, at least injection models. Sv's from 2000-2003 are easy to find but way to expensive for what they are.
For instance I can buy an Er6-F from 2006 with 21k kms for 2500€.
Usually I can get a 2000 sv's with 50k kms for the same price where I live.
So I really think that I will go for the er6. And to be honest as a beginner I don't think I will find a shocking difference between thos bikes.

What would be a good first dual sport for someone who is fairly experienced with road motorcycles but has never been offroad? Would prefer something with decent oil capacity. I'm 6'1", 90kg and live in Australia.
Originally I was thinking DR650 since they're so popular with the adventure crowd but they're a little bit heavy and it's unlikely I'd do adventure riding for awhile anyway so now I'm leaning more towards a DRZ400, as you can probably guess from these two I'm not looking to win races.
