Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the LCD in my Audi?
It stays like that constantly.
At my local U-PULL-IT, I can get the whole instrument cluster from a car that they have there for like $35.
Would that be the easiest and cheapest way to fix it?

What year audi?
Have been told the cluster and Ecu are linked on later model audis and have to be reprogrammed, or the car wont start.

It's a 2004

A6 btw

That cheap for a cluster? Seems like a good deal. I'd say go for it, worst case scenario you're out 35 bucks.

Yes.
Keep in mind you will have to adapt your key to the new cluster, otherwise the engine will turn off shortly after you start it due to the immobilizer being active.
I did this on my 01 Jetta when I installed a new cluster by the way. The shitty thing is that center screen on the new cluster still only works when it's cold (never where I live). The screen fades out with heat (anything above about 70 degrees F makes the screen unreadable).
Chances are that any cluster (screen specifically) made in that same time period will have some fading issue.
The only reason the screen is readable here is because it was sitting inside for a while.

With some heat.
This is night time by the way, in the day it is essentially off.
My b5 cluster can only be seen clearly in pitch black environments, was this the 90S? Or is it just old

You're fucked.
2000+ VAG products all have to be reprogrammed.

That's what I'll do then. I'm just lucky that they have an A6 there.
Looks like it's $33.
>>15013571
Oh for fucks sake.
It's bad enough that I can't just go to autozone and buy some fucking wiper blades.
>>15013591
Do they not have your size?
>>15013596
you have to reset wiper life timer in the ECU or it'll pester you that it's time to replace them
>>15013596
It doesn't use the hook kind.
You have to order special ones.
>audi with electrical issues
Color me surprised
>>15013818
Because no car besides audi gets electrical gremlins at 150K , right babe?
>>15013831
Hey fuck you. It's only 130k
>>15013831
not in my experience, cept my bmw did.
