/o/ I have this 03 Ford Explorer Sport Trac that my grandpa gave me in november, but its in need of loads of work/repair and I simply don't have the money (college is expensive). Should I just get rid of it? Is it really worth much? If I were to sell it, what could I realistically get for it? What should I do here?
First time posting on /o/ btw

Not yet.
Post more pics. Does it run?

It either needs a new alternator or a new battery, and has a new one of whichever is operable. I don't remember. One of the tires goes flat in 10 minutes of filling it, it had mice living in it and through the air system, smells like rat piss and shit.

did your grandpa exclusively drive behind gravel trucks or something? my 1993 Explorer has better paint than that
You are asking us to answer questions without giving us enough information. First do you need this car? If so do research and determine what a car of the same year & condition is worth. Next figure out how much repairs will cost. If the repairs are less than the value of the car and you need it then fix it and drive it, provided you have the money to do so. If the repairs are more than the vehicle is worth then sell it. YOU will have to do the leg work on this and figure it out we can't magically solve this one for you. Have a picture of a 46 ford while you figure it out.

shit. Well did your grandpa love the car? If he did I'd put forth the effort to try and keep it.
Battery isn't much, so is one tire. Alternator is more.

Its been well used by my extended family over the years (white trash). He also supposedly spent 2k last fall in rebuilding the transmission on it, so theres that.

Not really, hes a bit of a car collector. Bought my grandma a thunderbird back in the 80s with white "ponie" leather in it. He gave it to me because I didn't have a vehicle for college but I drive my stepfathers ranger now. So no, I don't strictly need it.

Thanks.

Nice trips.
>already have ranger
>already have thunderbird
Well I think you need make the decision on this. Like the other guy said, check up same year and relative condition ones for pricing.

To clarify, he didn't give me the thunderbird, meant to say he gave me the truck.

Oh, okay. Well, again, it depends on how much resources you have and you're willing to put in it to get a decently reliable vehicle for uni. I'm not in your fiscal situation so I can't judge. It's up to you to call the shots.

Clean it up and fix the problems and sell it for 2k+ depending on mileage. You might get an extra grand for your sweat equity.
