I blew the motor in my Ranger back in 2103 and still have it in the driveway. No name but she's very special to me. I planned on putting a new engine but I got busy, I want to junk her sometimes but never do.

check out the W-body forums. A lot of those guys stock spare parts. One thing I would definitely keep on hand are replacement leafsprings for the back. The fiberglass of the leafspring weakens over time and it it snaps, the entire rear suspension will collapse on itself.
pic related. All Gen 1 W-bodies have this setup. Gen 1.5, gen 2, and gen 3 cars switched to conventional coil springs for the IRS.

How do you like the GTS-t? I'm having a little trouble deciding between getting one vs getting a GT-R. The ITBs and ATTESA sound like they would make the GT-R a lot more interesting and fun, but the GTS-t is 10% lighter, cheaper to modify, and I really like the stock seats for some reason.
>>
>>14976833
Because they don't really have the 2.4 SRT4 turbo that much over here.

Also, the engine will not fail, so I'll probably have to live forever.

hmm.. when you wanna find a 2.4 turbo, let us know and we'll find one. They were quite popular here in the states so it shouldn't be too much of a hardship for one of us to find a cheap one for you, be it from an SRT4 or from a PT Cruiser GT Turbo.
>>
>>14977045
GTS-T? I drive a lexus sc400 man
>>
>>14977057
The "GT Cruiser" was sold here too, but it wasn't all that popular, so AVK ,which is the crashed car organization that parts cars and sells anything good on them, doesn't really have them. Seen AVK have like one rear ended GT Cruiser and they quoted me 5800€ for the engine, tranny, wiring harness and computers

>what is she?
1979 Chrysler Valiant

'the val'
>why is she special?
I always wanted a 70's barge in daily driving condition, not showroom. My dad had a 1970 HG Kingswood that he took us everywhere in and back then they were worth nothing so i grew up alot with them. All the old rental VHS tapes with the heroes driving old shitboxes fast looked awesome. He also had a 1966 Valiant i can remember well. He got sick and had to sell them.

I bought my Val in Year 12 with all the pizza money i had and nobody i knew liked it and they all tell me to sell it but idgaf.I love the looks, power, how easy it is to fix etc. My friends hate it, girls hate it, family thinks it takes up space and its all the same argument, they want me to get a car from within the last 10 years or a japanese car
>til _____ do you part?
death, definitely. I have land, so its worth more to me to park it up then to ever sell it

You, you my brother from another mother. Wanted a Dart, Valiant or Aspen to complement my GTC LeBaron as my winter car, but they're all overpriced over here in the EU.

Actually was running a tuned ecu with Venolia pistons ordered from them on my old "Utusho", my previous black LeBaron that got rear ended.

Never gonna sell is definately a thing.
My father, I think, never sold a car since the late 70's. It helps that we lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere where everything was in a state of disrepair anyway.

Until recently, there was a Manta B, four Peugeot 305s, a series 3 Land Rover and various 1990's diesel shitboxes all rusting away in derelict glory.

That fucking '98 Wrangler in the back. It was bone stock when I bought it over 7 years ago. I've dumped so much money into it over the years it makes me sick to think about. No exaggeration, at least $20k in mods and repairs, probably actually closer to $25k. It's constantly breaking down because I'm so hard on it. It's been sitting in that spot for a couple of months now because the carrier in the Ford 8.8 rear end exploded. Pulled the cover off and had chunks of carrier and spider gears falling out in my hands. I'll probably buy parts and get it running again before winter, but fuck. I will never get rid of it after spending so much on it.

I met this car at the wrong time of my life. Not enough money to do a full-blown restoration for at least 5-6 more years. Can't garage it and it's a bitch to work on it in an apartment lot where I'm limited by daylight. But I feel like I'll hate myself forever if I give up on it like it usually goes with Corolla owners, and there's no real reason beyond laziness and time prioritization keeping me from maintaining it. No rust, rebuilt engine, probably in the best condition I'd find for way under $10k. The guy I bought it from recently wanted to buy it back. I said no.

But that's not the reason why I won't sell it : it's practically worthless here in France so considering the amount of time put in it I'll keep it until it dies (which might take some time)

I might not drive it for too long since it's a gas guzzler. 7l/100km is far too much with our gas policy

1991 2.5L Turbodiesel Pajero

Already got 320k kms on the clock, but I've been chipping away at all the stuff it's needed.
>new timing + balance shaft belts
>new water pump
>new clutch slave and master cylinders
>new battery
>raised boost a little
>cleaned out intercooler
>replaced rocker cover gasket, dipstick tube seal, and oil filler cap
>replaced all steering ball joints and arms recently

Now I'm just waiting for some parts before I can put a new clutch in it - already had the gearbox inspected, new bearings and synchros fitted.

After that I'll start doing it up for offroad adventuring - 2.5" stainless steel exhaust, lift kit, light bars, secondary battery, roof racks, additional spare tire rack, winch, mini fridge, CB radio, secondary fuel tank, GPS unit, maybe even a solar panel setup for trickle charging the batteries.

There's a few suspension bushes that need looking at, and the sunroof is jammed stuck for the time being, but I fully intend to keep this Pajero operating as long as I can, and take it as far as I can get it.

I wish I could help you with some advice, but I don't see many Explorers in my country - what I can tell you is that if you've got a car that requires a huge amount of work and you don't have much money, you're going to be better off getting rid of it.

Pick up a car that has a reputation for being reliable and cheap to fix. Pick up a $200 toolkit from harbor freight or whatever you guys in America have, and find a Haynes repair manual or something similar.

A $500 shitbox hatchback might not be much to look at, might not be the most comfortable car in the world to drive, and definitely won't handle or perform like a race car, but the right one can be piss easy to fix, cost fuck all in terms of parts, and will keep on trucking as long as you look after it.

This is mine. I only thought I'd need it for a couple of weeks while waiting for parts for my other car, but now it's been almost 3 months due to delays and I've had to spend fuck all on it.

Just make sure whatever you get has good condition brakes, tires, and suspension.

getting really hard to find parts for now

this thread is making me sad

RIP S10. first vehicle I ever bought with my own money. 500$ well spent. fucker never quit, regardless of how I beat on it. even took me accidentally welding the battery to the roof. frame was solid, trans shifted smooth. started sanding the body down and fixing minor shit because the neighbor had a 350/4l60e combo just sitting around he was going to sell me.

then some cunt talking on her phone runs a stop sign and T-bones me, snapping the driveshaft in half and taking the back axle off the frame, bending the frame in the process. the heat death of the universe will come and go and I will still be fucking mad.

It was pretty easy, I just found the seller and paid him the money.

It helps that I'm a mechanic and have access to cheap parts, a full set of tools, etc - I almost don't want to sell the car just because I doubt anyone else can look after it as well as I can, which would mean it'll eventually become a rolling deathtrap.

Back in highschool I called her the slappala because of the 15inch sub in the trunk but now she goes by no name.
First car, always treated me well and I will always treat her well.
Till repairs cost more then she sells for.

I have no interest in selling my car, it is nice enough and fast enough for what I need her for. I have no interest in spending money on a new vehicle when my current car is fine. Even if I get rich I will probably still keep her as my DD and just get a fun vehicle or two to mess around with. Plus that rocken bass man...

Traded my comet GT for a spider which blew the head gaskets the same day before I made it back to college. I was looking for gas mileage because of a girl who dumped my anyway, and I was scared of a little transmission drip that had started. In retrospect it was super stupid and I'll never forgive my dad for both allowing me to trade that day and for making me scared of transmission problems.

Most recently I sold my jeep TJ which I bought new and spent 15 years building. That was tough but between life changes and the offroad scene out here not that bad. The full price no BS offer didn't hurt either.
