your check engine light is on OP
you should check engine

Are you serious or what?
>>14973365
Just sitting with key on
>>14973365
One time my light came on, I opened the hood, closed it, and then when I turned my car back on the light was off. My car LITERALLY just wanted me to check on my engine.
>>14973396
Hey ! ! there's no clutch ! !
>>14973530
That cheap ass plastic
I posted this in hhg already, but fuckit
>>14973396
That is fucking NICE
This isn't a cockpit. It's a helm
Best i can do at the moment
>>14973396
steering wheel is a bit chunky and the buttons on the left look like a bit of a "what is in the Toyota parts bin" sort of job, but overall it looks really nice
Orange dash backlight a best
This head unit is pissing me off though
>>14973426
>>14973564
Thanks, have another photo.
>>14973597
Unfortunately it's common to all Lexus, it was the same in the IS I used to have (the 2014 model).
Even the cruise control pad is the same as the one you can find in 1980s Toyota.
But honestly, I don't give a damn about these little things because overall I'm really pleased by the interior (there's still some little thing that remember this car partially is a Prius).
Also the engine is not as slow as I could have imagined reading reviews and opinions, I feel it's ok. It punches more than a 1.6 diesel (the 0-100 in slowish 10,3" is weight fault) but without lag.
My 2 cents.
>>14973612
if you are decent with a soldering iron and it's frontlit, you might be able to disassemble the head unit, de-solder the blue LEDs and solder on some orange LEDs
I have a feeling its a backlit LCD though
Or you could get a new one

>>14973396
>>14973567
why are modern interiors so overloaded and ugly and MUH SMOOTH SHAPES AND """METAL""" (PLASTIC)
>>14973516
THIS and pic related are what a real cockpit should look like
>>14973530
Ferd
>>14973714
The "metallic" plastic (it's not meant to replicate metal or aluminium though) Lexus uses, which I don't like at all in some spots, is recicled material supposed to be eco friendly while stylish (?), a sort of added value for green hybrids.
I'm ok with that, but I agree that for a car in this price range I would be able to choose between that material and metal.
>>14973587
Heres a better pic. Acres of plastic
>>14973749
It's supposed to look like brushed metal, but comes off cheap as hell.
>>14973773
Woops, thats the ant edition
>>14973658
>soldering
Good idea but while I have experience with that, I don't think it's enough. I'll see what I can do.
>buying a new one when current is working
Wow, so that's what living in a first world country feels like
>>14973789
I liked my 2003 Tacoma's interior, not roomy but wasn't so bulky looking like the newer ones
Pic is my Legacy cockpit
>>14973777
I don't know but surely the tactile sensation isn't even close to metal.
The one used in the IS is a little different.
>>14973804
you could also try lighting gels
they're just bits of coloured plastic meant for use in theatre lighting, so the colour won't fade with use.

I can actually fit more and bigger stuff in my coupe than my sedan thanks to the folding rear seats.

Here's the view from the outside. I think of it as an e46 "332Ci". It's a facelift coupe chassis with the m3 suspension, drivetrain and engine. Also, manual sport seats, feels good man.
Mine
>>14978705
Yeah, I've noticed that. I was able to change my control arms during lunch one day at work, and managed to fit everything I needed into my trunk with the seats folded down for the jack

It's a 2011 B Class with 1.6 turbo 156 hp.
Slow as fuck, horrible clutch (Mercedes have only to be bought automatic), horrible gearbox and other issues.
Also, the interior may look luxurious and well made but actually it's all fiction.
There were, since day 1, door panels vibrations, cheap plastics in the lower area of dashboard, cheap fake aluminium on buttons (trust me the one used by Lexus is 10 times better), and so on.
After only 1 year back and forth from dealer I sold the car...36.000€ of car with rattels and shit, Mercedes unable to fix them and when I wrote them they replied that I'm searching for the qualities of an S Class and all the things I'm complaining about are standard features.
Literally answered to fuck off because my money were hell good, and immediately sold to the Lexus dealer from where I bought my today car.
Same price, another world. Literally.

>>14981630
I've been seriously considering buying a 5speed rust bucket, and swapping the transmission. The trick is to have an entire donor car. While I'm at it, there's suspension work and rust proofing I want to do on the bottom while I'm down there. Probably wheel bearings too.
>>14981635
This car has had only one owner, my grandfather. It did a tiny commute and lived in a small city, it only has 127k Kilometers on it. It was well maintained by 1 shop it's entire life.

Right now there is very little rust, if I rust-protect it before it spreads, and keep this car for 20 more years it'll be a 50 year old classic.
Last post about my Tercel I'll let the thread move on.
