>On Sunday the 1st of may, an internal memo between Mieschke Hofmann und Partner, Porsche AG and Nissan Japan was leaked to various "dark web" sources. The leak in question details the engineer discussion of the next generation "Flamme Aufwachen", which appears to be code name for a new, ultra light 918 hypercar.

>Porsche AG's internal memo discusses the potential use of proprietary Nissan Turbocharger technology featured on the 2017 GTR, as well as the use of water induction technology similar to that recently announced by BMW.

>But most exciting is the mention of a power to weight ratio beyond 1:1, through the use of a material called Graphene. Previous use of such a material was deemed too costly for the commercial market, seeing use only on aerospace electronics and specialized medical equipment.

So this leak just went up on jalopnik like 40 minutes ago and has now been deleted, is porsche full damage control?

Why would they even get this taken down (it's not like you can, im assuming other cunts have screenshots) when it makes them look good?

I'm assuming this is bullshit but holy fuck, if it's true...this is porsche after all.

Who cares, the Porschistas and speculators have bought them all already.

It's still fucking awesome.

The 918 is already dominating, but they're not done yet?
>>
>>14971235
Because unlike cars like the OyVeyron and Lamborghinis and shit like that, these million dollar Porsches are actually pushing technology in cars that make them faster and better
This is the kind of stuff that's going to trickle down to more affordable cars over the years

holy FUCK

2015 918 curb weight is around 1678 kg with 887 hp, they'll shave off all excess weight but still, it's going to have a massive fucking upgrade in power

this. porsche is one of the most exciting companies to watch.

>>14971277
before the leak was pulled, the article was showing some shit about them having the same v8, turbo charged now (using the nissan and bmw tech) and also having more powerful electric batteries they've developed since.

Plus, graphene is INSANELY light if they actually managed to produce it properly. That's the biggest breakthrough. A literal gamechanger.

It's going to be stupid expensive though.

>>14971309
It seemed quite legit though, considering jalopnik almost never does fake bullshit (as cancer as they are), the schematics they had photos of and how it suspiciously got taken down (normally they would leave it up for the clickbait).

I'm asking if any cunts have more info, before it got pulled. I know someone here saved shit.

>>14971317
It is a real thing, you know. Just because normies think it's some magical place does not mean shit does not get leaked there.
>>
>>14971332
Its where you buy drugs and CP. Why would anyone leak it there? A 4chan post isn't big enough to list the reasons why that makes no sense.
>>
>>14971356
It most likely got leaked there and other surface web places.

Jalopnik is just being retarded, while porsche is covering it up because it might have some shit they want to keep under wraps.

It's plausible. This actually happened with the mezger engine, so porsche has a history of trying to cover up leaks.

Perhaps it's a joint partnership where nissan shares some ideas and porsche shares some ideas.

Heaps of companies have done that before. The article was not clear on details so i dunno, but this sounds fucking awesome.
>>
>>14971389
sounds like a toyota/subaru kind of deal, but with tech instead.

Perhaps there's something they want that's copyrighted on the new GTR and they're trading their own designs?

If that's the case it's awesome, because porsche design will trickle into new GTR's.

>>
>>14971401
>>14971409

Fair points. It does sound really intriguing and I'm aware of other collaborations between manufacturers, I just figured Porsche to stick to the Volks AG family.

How awesome would a 911 turbo be with gtr awd?
>>
>>14971214
>Flamme Aufwachen
Clearly a Tesla codename.
>>
>>14971426
Porsche's own AWD system is already very capable, I don't think it'd improve that much.
>>
>>14971426
And how awesome would a GTR be with porsche engine design.

Imagine a compact v8 twin turbo going in the next gen gtr?

Holy shit, what if they're collaborating on making a twin turbo v8 capable of stupid power levels to go in both cars?

Nissan did state previously they want to go all out hypercar for the "36" so it's not that unrealistic either.

Perhaps they would do such a thing and we would see a v8, turbo GTR putting out like 1200hp (and most likely slightly detuned for the regular copies)

And that's why they're included in this porsche memo...

Try breaking 1:1 when you also have the heavy batteries.

If they can integrate a low weight as well as the instant early torque of their batteries, it's going to be fucking stupid.

Also, with increased development in terms of energy storage limits for supercapacitors in general, graphene-based or hybrid supercapacitors will eventually be utilized in a number of different applications.

Vehicles that utilize supercapacitors are already prevalent in our society. One Chinese company is currently manufacturing buses that incorporate supercapacitor energy recovery systems, such as those used on Formula 1 cars, to store energy when braking and then converting that energy to power the vehicle until the next stop.

In the past, scientists have been able to create supercapacitors that are able to store 150 Farads per gram, but some have suggested that the theoretical upper limit for graphene-based supercapacitors is 550 F/g.

I'm fairly certain we've only made Graphene sheets in sizes less than 10x10cm in labs. It's feasible, but even as a prototype, it would be prohibitively expensive. Doubt Graphene will be the material for any significant structure.

But, making EVERYTHING out of carbon fiber might do. Engine will be the vast majority of the weight if everything is CF.

>>
>>14971587
Doesn't the 919 use regular batteries though?

If they were working on capacitors, I'd kind of expect them to team up with Toyota, not Nissan, since the TS040 uses capacitors, and the Nissan (and Audi) use flywheels to round out LMP1.

Not saying it's not possible they'd switch to capacitors, but the thing about capacitors is they let all their energy out in one sort of blast, while batteries provide a much less time-constrained method of release. Much more practical in a road car, and with LMP1 regulations getting stricter now and limiting the cars' speed (they were approaching 2014 F1 lap times on power circuits last year), it'll be a little hard to justify a new race car technology when you just won Le Mans under the rule set that most allowed cool shit.
