I quit. 60k/yr isn't that great when you're working 60-70 hour weeks and the hours are all over the place, working most weekends, and the stress of the position is so much that its always on your mind and I even fuckin dreamed about it.
Also ruined my relationship, and I couldn't ever get back home to see friends/family. Was actually extremely physically demanding too running a big store like that, was doing 30k steps a day via my fitbit. Lots of lifting and was ruining my already bad back. Never got any real breaks. Just tried to sit down to eat for 5-10 minutes at a time
New job is 8-5 Monday through Friday. Office desk job. Hour lunch. Most holidays off. 4 days off for christmas 3 for thanksgiving. When I go home at the end of the day I don't take work home with me. Most important its back home so I was able to move back to my hometown.
My quality of life is WAY better thanks to this job even if my current pay and future pay potential is lower.

You get lucky, I was taking automotive classes for my ASE certifications and my teacher noticed that i was batter at this than the rest of the people in my class and asked me if i was looking for a job, i said yes and he introduced me to a local shop owner. after a few months of working on basic shit i started working on hybrids and electric cars for the shop since i was more technologically inclined than the other mechanics and a year after that the shop got a contract with fisker to be a certified service center. Car is in the shop right now. I was driving up by the GWB and someone up ahead hit a tire tread and sent it rolling into my lane where it hit me. Fucked up my bumper and cracked my passenger side skirt. Some blemishes on my new wheel too. I'm having an IPL bumper put on in its place and I just got a rear sway bar from the S model that will be going on soon. Probably be done for a while after that. Saving money for a vacation so the car has to come second.

It's because a lot of these new grads work in high COL areas. Not uncommon for new grads to make 100k+ at their first job in Silicon Valley or New York but it's also a lot more expensive to live there.
On the other hand 70k for an Aerospace Engineer (even entry level) is kinda low even in low COL areas
