Guys, it is 2016. Why aren't we using a better restraint system than nylon belts? Seat belts break bones, yeah this is better than hitting the dash or getting ejected but I don't think we need to make that kind of compromise anymore.
We have the technology to spread out forces across the entire body using a vacuum membrane restraint system. That same technology can replace the function of a head and neck support if used to cover the head. Once implemented all safety development could be focused on constructing better safety cells rather than wasted on trying to protect a loose human flying around the cockpit. Think about it. Safety would be all or nothing, once properly engineered any accident at road legal speeds would result in zero injuries.
