The first dub was done by Tokyopop. That should tell you enough, but I'll elaborate.
To try and market towards the American "Fast and Furious" audience, they shortened or changed names. They also replaced all of the high-energy Super Eurobeat soundtrack with generic and strangely slow-tempo hip-hop/rap/rock fusion bullshit.
