You posted some pretty rough examples and you know it.
Top left looks fine to me. Later years looked better. Plus, it was 90s styling.
Granted the equivalent Toyota and Honda looked a little better, but they were very bland even when they were new. At least Pontiac, which was always GM's little experimental division, was different.
