Start your own group. I made a breakfast group for subies in my area, every first sunday of the month we go to a really good texmex place that has even better parking. I posted it on cancerbook on some subaru groups, I put notes on obviously enthusiast-owned subarus (stickers, modified, anything with a scoop, etc) and tell all the subaru owners I meet. Pic related is the one from this month. Would have been bigger but the both guys that have Forester XT's had theirs taken apart so they weren't drivable and had to take a different non-subaru car. If everyone that goes tells one other person it can grow pretty large.

It wasn't even official, it's just that it was the first perfect weekend in terms of weather that the Chicagoland area has seen since before winter and everybody just knew to come to Strat's.
