Why do some pickups have two tires on each side of the rear axle?
>>14936572
called a dually
adds stability and increases rear axle payload
>>14936580
This
Also because of the wider contact patch it increases stability when towing.
>>14936591
>also increases stability
That's what he said you fucking retard.
>>14936612
>not being a retard
Fucking intellicuck
>>14936612
Well thanks for jumping up and pointing that out you autistic fuck. Do you feel better now?
increases stability
>>14936591
>>14936631
The two tires also increase stability.
Adds about tree fiddy stabilities
Would 3 tires on each side of the rear axle increase stability?
>>14936572
Two tires of that size can't legally (or safely) support the gross axle weight rating. Four can. Ergo, more tires! This is the same logic for tractor trailers.
>>14936653
They would increase stability by 2 more tires worth over 1 tire's worth of stability.
>>14936653
>stability intensifies
>>14936645
Helps to stabilize the truck
>>14936572
For stability
:replyall:
It increases stability.
>>14936621
>saying something i don't like makes you autistic
>tfw no stability
>>14936794
But does it increase stability?
>>14936806
no, but fitting two extra tyres does
>>14936812
So what you're saying is, more tires, more stability?
It's for added stability.
Stab billy T
for mexicans pack more drugs
Adds more stability to the truck
Okay I get it, but I have one last question... does it affect stability in any way?
A lot of good answers here, but I think the main purpose is to add more stability
Why can't I hold
all this
Stability

moot point
>>14937053
That's a good point, often overlooked.
Here's this if anyone wants it.
Increases stability.
im dying here.
thanks /o/
>>14937209
thanks, posting this on /4chan for max karma!
There are other ways to incrise stability without extra tyres.
>>14937374
But not while towing.
Best just to increase stability with extra tires.
>>14936572
So do the extra tires increase stability then? Or is it just for show?
>>14936653
No. But it would increase stability.
>>14936612
It helps to stabilize the truck.
>>14937209
Thanks m8
>>14936795
i'm feelin pretty unstable myself lately. I just dont know if I can carry on another day.
What if two tires were to carry the coconut together?
>tfw no stability
>>14937759
Just mount 2 more legs to your torso.
>>14937567
> Pic related
The more tires and axles you have, the bigger your truck is. The bigger your truck is, the bigger your dick looks.
>>14936713
I also heard it helps to keep the truck from becoming unstable while driving.
>>14936572
The extra tires add ability for more stability.
>>14936572
>old ford dually
Kind of want
>>14937859
>>14939112
Don't turn going faster than 20
adds another level to the dream
>>14936572
those are heavy duty versions of that specific truck usually used in a trade like construction, beefed up drivetrain with more tires to support the extra weight from towing or hauling gravel/bricks in the bed
>>14936572
so you dont have to replace it when the tire blowss jus keep drivin
For doubling your skids
how do you increase stability?
What if I put 2 wheels on each front hub? Would it be more or less stable? What if there's only one set in the back? Would my added stability added unevenly destablize the stability?
>>14939318
Increase your rear axle payload.
Stabilizes your rolling:coal ratio.
More wheels = more coal
More rolling = less acceleration = less coal
>>14938320
>not a dually
Opinion disregarded
>>14936572
dually's sway side to side much less when pulling heavy trailers.
also i guess theyre more stable or some shit.
>>14939687
I don't know about this boss. When I worked with the state road they wouldn't pull a grader with anything smaller than a tandem dump truck.
>>14940194
Listen here you little unstable shit I stabilized top of my class Magna Cummins Laude so don't tell that heehaw what he can or cannot stabilize without my approval. I'll have you know I have over 300 confirmed stables and four fine bitches at all of my tables. Clark Gable could not be as stable if he installed xfinity cable. I run rat pricks like you vietnan fucking shit
>>14940194
not everybody has a tandem dump sitting around
>>14939687
>>14940444
Holy shit dude, those things weigh +30k lbs, Your trucks towing capacity is nowhere no that.
Have fun when your truck totally shits itself
>>14940518
Not to mention thats pretty dangerous too
I believe it adds stability
>>14940518
>trucks towing capacity is nowhere no that
1st its not my truck, or my pic
2nd im pretty sure thats a champion c60c grader which weighs about 16k
3rd the yard switcher weighs about 18k
4th that 2010 f450 has gcwr of 33k, and fifth wheel towing capacity of 24k
if towing that grader or yard switcher was going to hurt their brand new $60000 truck, they wouldnt do it.
>>14940534
what is dangerous?
>>14936925
No, dumbass, it means it has more stability
>>14937209
Nice job m90, been Screensavin like an artist when I bumped this
>>14940855
Would 2 less stable tire still provide more stability than 1 more ably stable tire? Or would you just get increased stability?
>>14940875
No, Bcos 2 less stable tires are still equal or more stable than a 1 stable maximum payload
>>14936656
Almost right. It's not that two tires can't support the weight, it's that the weight being distributed over only two tires would put more stress and wear on the roads than is legal. More tires = more surface for the weight to be spread across. So duals save the road wear, but aren't necessary to support the weight. Also stability
>>14940576
No fucking way someone would do that.
>>14936572
They don't actually do anything, they're just for style. They do increase the stability of the truck though. Also, what if you added tires to your tires? Like gluing or duct taping smaller tires to the tires on the axle. Would that increase the stability? Do you have to add tires to the axle or can you just mount the tires on the hood or the roof of your truck and get the same stability?
>>14941157
I think you overestimate people
>>14940518
>don't use truck as intended
>/o/bitches
>>use truck for work
>>o bitches
You need some duallys in your life, you need some stability
What the duck happened to this completely stable thread?
Does it need more stability?
>>14936572
It over stabilizes cauaing extreme grip and spontaneous wheelies BEWARE
Having a dually truck will allow you time to safely pull over and stop when towing large trailers if a tire blows out. On a regular 2 rear tire truck, if you blow one tire your truck could pull in the direction that blew, which could cause your trailer to become unstable, and maybe even flip.
And if there's one thing this thread has taught me, it's that being not stable is a no-no.
Be a stable truck OP. Be a Dually.
>>14936572
I think it would add some stability.

That's already a heavy duty truck you retard. Unless you're talking about a 1.5 ton 4500 or f450
>>14943842
Looks can be deceiving anon, it'd collapse before that.
>>14936572
I've heard it's to increase stability
