How did I do /o/?

2009 Outback
Special Edition
four speed automatic (sport manual mode)
82k/mi
$13k

I've already started looking into changing the head gaskets , and will replace the timing belt at the same time probably around 110k.

I am in love , just wanting to know if I fell for a meme.

I'd do the timing belt on schedule (and water pump), but not the head gaskets yet. I had an 03 Forester H4 4EAT that went well beyond 100k without any problems at all. The average for head gaskets seems to be 150K. My nephew has an 02 Outback with over 200K that is still on the original gaskets. Just keep an eye on the coolant and watch for evidence of leaks.

Until then just park the extra money in the bank and cross your fingers. Unless you're really itching to get ass-deep in the engine compartment with a flat 4 engine....

Legacy wagon and manual

There are four speeds? That's not enough. When you're on the highway you must be over 5k rpm?

B-but I like the "manual" for trails ....

A4 Avant better.

When the head gaskets go on the boxer it's not a catastrophic failure. You'll lose some power, you'll wonder what the fuck, you'll check your coolant and you'll know the subu fairy visited and you need new head gaskets.

No. It's a wide ratio auto. Highway revs are normal. But yeah with those ratios and the relatively low power it's no speed demon.

one of the best looking subaru ever...GJ OP

your first "mods" imo, would be replacing the standard speakers and HU since the whole thing is basically garbage from factory. also, since there's not much u can do to make it fast, might as well compensate it with amazing sound. (no excessive bass please)

Why isn't it a six Speed? OS there any advantages to just having 4?

Good purchase, OP. Enjoy it! My 04 H6 Outback is still going strong, and it's one of the best all-around cars I've driven. Despite the higher suspension, they actually handle quite well. I hope it lasts you many happy years!
