...and it is leaking like a goddamned sieve.

Could anyone tell me what the cause might be and is my car toast? I probably have to dump a quart in a week.

This leak is under the engine, drivers side.

That looks like you headlamp fluid,OP.
You're fucked. Kill yourself.
>>
>>14895245
you've taken a picture of your transmission OP. that's not your engine. try again once you've found the engine.
>protip: follow that weird rusty pipe to the left back towards the front of the car until it connects to something

from what i can tell, the oil leak is coming from the left side of the car. that's all we can tell you.

need better pictures to see it could be your oil pan gasket, drain plug, front/rear main seals, oil filter housing gasket. TL/DR need more pics get some brakeclean and spray off that shit and see where its coming from.

>>14895245
Looks like you have a leak in the rear main seal.

It's not fatal if you get it taken care of pretty soon.

listen up, fucboi. long ago when i got my start as an auto tech i had a mentor. a very wise, 67 year old master technician who (somehow) liked me enough to take me under his wing at a huge busy shop in phoenix.

what he taught me about finding leaks was pretty simple sounding but easy to overlook when you're a newbie scrub: gravity.

"gravity doesn't lie" is what he taught me. any and every oil leak on your car/truck has a starting point, and all you need to do is simply trace it up until you stop seeing the streak and find the source.

check for where hoses clamp onto female fittings. you're gonna have to get a half decent flashlight if you wanna do this often (i highly recommend the $170 STINGER flashlight. every tool truck has them, because every tech has them. get one.)

id suggest initially to pop your hood and look at your valve covers. are they leaking.

if not, try to scan every nook and cranny the best you can looking from the top of the engine. if you cant find anything then you know its somewhere lower and you'll have to go under the car.

just go slow, be patient, and rule things out one by one. follow the leak upwards. gravity doesn't lie.

being able to identify what kind of oil you're leaking drastically narrows stuff down too. if you have multiple leaks you might wanna have someone more experienced help you.

if you're in phoenix, AZ im down to help. i dont work today and i got my flashlight/tools at home (well, a small fraction of them, but i have some here with me.) im down to help.

>rear main seal
why does every single 12yo say this?
you are part of the reason I was scared of wrenching when I was 18 because people kept giving me confusing bullshit advice. after learning it all myself I now simply tune you faggots out.

it could be anything from a leaky gasket, seal or hose anywhere in the engine bay. it could even be power steering fluid for all we know.

Firearms are what I know, not cars.

Shop said the RMS is gone and just to pour oil in every few days. I am fine with that.

Thanks for the offer, I am in VA unfortunately.
