Why aren't drag cars put on rails?
What's the point of the steering wheel if you're only using it to keep straight?
>>14886704
Who do we have streets when we can have rails? I'm going on a predefined path anyway.
>>14886715
no i mean like at a drag strip.
is the ability to turn just kept so there can be crashes?
>>14886704
because they would be drag trains, not cars you dumb nigger
>>14886704
metal wheels on metal rails don't provide much friction
and adding those wheels to a existing car with regular rubber tyres would increase weight
>>14886728
>drag trains
Laughed heartily
>>14886704
part of drag racing is having the skill to keep your vehicle in your fucking lane.
>>14886755
fucking hell
i love how there will be always a drag version of any sort of vehicle in america
if it exist there is a drag version of it
>>14886755
is that a fucking train drag racing a truck with a jet engine strapped to the back?
>>14886728
yeah, what's wrong with that
>>14886769
>>14886772
Didn't even know this existed. I just googled drag trains and it was the first thing that came up
>>14886764
>drag racing
>skill
Pick one Amerifags
>>14886755
bless murica
>>14886810
most of the skill goes into modifying a vehicle to accelerate at insane rates and not having it perform a rapid unplanned disassembly
>>14886810
It not really a driver skill more as it's an engineering skill. This is an engine builders sport more than a drivers.
>>14886772
looks like a regular fire truck

>>14886834
what's the point if you're just going to put wheels and tires on it
>>14886893
so it can out maneuver a mustang
>>14886900
even a train on rails can outhandle a mustang
>>14886769
fuck yeah
>drag strip is just a giant rack and pinion with wheels on dragsters replaced with gears
Somebody fund this

>>14886826
The common belief of someone who has no idea what they're talking about.
>>14886704
Because is funny to see Mustangs try to go straight.
>>14886810
Ask your bus driver to accelerate full throttle without touching the steering wheel. You'll see that the steering wheel moves because of the forces imparted on the chassis by the acceleration. It's not as simple as you are.
>>14886826
You still have to be able to keep it pointed straight while accelerating that fast.
>>14886810
Then I suppose you've already made your quick millions by casually dominating the NHRA then?
>>14886941
>drag strip
> off highway, low ground pressure tyres
Really, now?
>>14887414
>Ask your bus driver
>>14886810
It's all about reaction time and taming whatever monster you're driving.
>>14886704

Honestly my dream race track is one with multiple paths like something out of Mario Kart on steroids.

Not ethan retard.
TFW you will never have a drag race while listening to the "Pirate Lagoon" theme from "Diddy Kong Racing".
"Dat rapid piano blast before the organ is unleashed" combo.
(What? I lived through the 90s and I'm a nostalgic 30-plus year old)
>people replying to a bait thread.

In a way, it's even funnier that some fraction of idiots will actually swallow it.
>>14887095
no that guy, but compared to other forms of racing, racing a drag car is probably the easiest.
>>14888950
The hard part happens in the garage
>>14888950
It's a double edged sword. Braking late, perfect lines etc, all complicated, but if you fuck up a bit, you can recover. Drag racing, you have to nail it, no second chances.
>>14886728
>drag trains
pls make this a thing

but annon, it is a thing
