>found my dream car
>limited edition euro performance car, barely any for sale
>seller said it was in great condition and looked good from the photos
>drove 200miles to see it in person
>it's in utter fucking shit condition with cracks in the transmission and a cracked front bumper ghetto'd together with bondo
>he took all the photos to hide all of the defects
>fucking thing goes into limp mode and car smells like they have been storing a dead person in there for a few weeks
FUCK BUYING USED CARS
>>14880678
>not manipulating the seller into meeting you halfway
If you shop like an idiot you'll be treated like an idiot
what car
>>14880748
doesn't matter, it's dead to me
>>14880748
Doesn't matter, his story is bullshit
>>14880678
>not using all point to negotiate down the price to 50%
>>14881314
This. It's how I bought my Capri for 50% of the list price which had already been reduced 25% from the original listing. The defects don't show up when I post it here either. Everyone loves it and I'm just slowly prettying it up.
Of course, it doesn't have cracks in the transmission or much of a smell beyond carb and no cats smell with slight eau de oldcar. If it had a limp mode it might have gone into it last week because when the weather warmed up it started coughing under heavy acceleration but it went back to normal during my Saturday nightdriving and stayed okay even when it got hot during the day Sunday. Dunno what its problem was but I should really order a rebuild kit for the spare Holley 4 barrel.
I don't blame OP for not even making an offer though. I wouldn't have tried driving mine the 200 miles back through the mountains in limp mode.
>looking for classic car that's very common for a classic car but still incredibly uncommon for just a car
>would have to drive 250+ miles for almost every single one
>they're probably all in much worse condition than the photos suggest
>>14881314
And then you'll still have spent actual money on a car that barely works and requires tons of effort to restore.

When you drive away with hundrheds of dollars from your budget still in your pocket it can go a long way. Maybe not when you limp away though.
>>14881458
>settling for anything less than THAT car
You make it sound like buying a car is a decision like buying a toaster.
>>14881447
It's like you're scared of manual labour or something
>>14881477
I would like to rely to my car for going to work, and I would like to have a life left outside of work and wrenching. If my car is jacked up and pulled apart most of the time I might as well not have it.
>>14881501
Then don't buy a rare performance yurocar as your dd period
>>14881511
Not even OP.
i drove out to look at an old two stroke bike that looked pretty good in the photos
>it had a couch cushion for a seat
>it had gasket goop seeping out of every conceivable seam
>the whole engine was painted silver put still managed to look rusted to shit
>key was a screwdriver
>wires everywhere
>giant car horn
>battery was dead so seller plugged it into a charger and the bike CAUGHT FIRE
>was advertised low km had literally 50000 on the odometer
that's all i can think of now but holy shit it was embarrassing
i found an actually nice one for the same price a few months later.. just be patient op
>>14880678
kill the seller instead. free car.
>>14881458
>taiwanese cooking forum

This is true, people who know they have a shit car won't bother cause they either will get stranded or know it'll be a waste of their time.

Isn't that kinda cheating though because ain't the Radical like the fastest thing around the track aside for the Mustang, because that thing just cuts straight through all the corners which on the other hand is cheating.
