Seriously considering buying one of these in the next week or 2. Or a GS430. What is /o/s opinion on these?
Wait until 1991 is 25 years ago and import a TT Aristo instead.
>not GS300 so you can slap all sorts of crazy Supra power bolt-ons on it
>>14868825
Wrong hand drive on your local road network, whatever it may be, is one of the shittiest fucking things you can do in motoring.
>>14868810
You want a 98/99 due to the ECU
98-00 had mechanical throttle rather than DBW
>>14868828
A bolted/tuned 1UZ will make the same power as a BPU GTE on stock twins, except it's all motor and faster. Not that the Aristo swaps aren't cool, but it takes a bit more money to get the fun out of them.

> like an entire turbo kit? Stfu. It's better as an auto v8 4 door luxury car.
430 is only marginally more powerful than the 400. V8 power didn't jump by much until the isF
>>14868839
I do it all the time, it's fine and takes 30 minutes to get used to.
>>14868867
It's not about getting used to the layout, it's about the absolutely horrid driving position and visibility in so many situations where these things are absolutely vital. Imagine the driver is blind and the co-driver has to tell him whether it's safe to overtake someone.

>he can't drive a RHD- car on right-side of the road
you have to be mentally disabled if you think it's difficult
>>14868924
I only ever have issues making left turns where there's no dedicated left turn light, but it's really not all that bad, I just lean way over. I've never had an issue overtaking
>>14868944
You have to be mentally disabled to think it's safe to overtake semis on a one lane road in a RHD car. Enjoy your early death.
>>14868848
whats an ecu? I don't really care if its drive by wire or not, im not buying it to race. 430 has 15 ft lb more torque but is a tenth or so slower to 60.
>>14868848
1998 had DBW too, my girlfiend has a 1998 Aristo non-turbo. one week after we bought it the throttle body issue came up where it goes into limp mode every once in a while and apparently only a new $1500 throttle body fixes it

ive driven my Crown for years here in Canada. way easier and i can park downtown by the curb without worrying about getting doorhopped by some idiot. parallel parking is a breeze too
>>14868955
again, ive got over 50,000km of highway on this thing. never had a problem, youre sitting one foot to the right. i even drove it down to Burgerland a few months ago to pillage your groceries and bring them back here to Canada
>>14868971
He may have a shitty persona, but gs400 knows what he's talking about when it comes to GS's.
>>14868955
I feel like you've probably driven a RHD car in a LHD country, as you're grossly exaggerating the dangers.
>>14868955
>he lives in a country where you have to drive on single lane roads
Third world shitholes pls go
>>14868994
North American highways aren't the standard for measurement. It's impossible to dangerously overtake if absolutely everyone goes within 15 mph of each other. I'm in Autobahn country and I have a feeling that if you pull out in front of someone going really fast because you only had your passenger side mirror to look through, you'll probably kill yourself and possibly someone else.
>>14868971
It's not about racing, it's about throttle feels. The 430 is definitely slower.
>>14868986
Yes, but in 98-00 it still had a cable despite also having sensors. 01+ it's full on electronic. 98 had a sensing algorithm. Not a full on old school mechanical, but there is a cable. Sweet Crown :)

THANK YOU FAMIGLIA
>>14868810
430! 430! 430!
>>14869036
you just lean over, its nothing. what is the problem here is Pakis going 70 in a 110, ive driven on the Autobahn and it flows way better than here
>>14869048
there is a cable but it controls 20% of the throttle manually and the rest is all electronic, limp mode you only get the manual throttle and have to floor it to get anywhere
i pulled a GS300 throttle body, soldered in new capacitors in the ECU, everything but it all points to needing a new throttle body. she lost her job and just got a new one and we dont have the $1500+ for a new throttle body so her Aristo sits infront of my place collecting dust lol
>>14869158
Find a used one at a salvage yard, they're significantly cheaper than 1500 bro.
2jz & 1uz throttle body is a bit different but you're right on that first line.
>>14869199
i did, put one from a GS300 and had the same issue. talked to a guy at a JDM repair shop and he said the only way theyve fixed it is with a brand new one from Toyota. Toyota wont even sell us one without them installing it so i have to order it through the garage i work at and say its for a customer
I just sprayed my way to 145 (limiter) in my gs400 and it got to that speed comically quick.
Gs430s are computerized pieces of shit it'd probably clonk out doing that
