I'm assuming you're young with no credit history rather than being a dumbass with bad credit history. If so, don't feel bad, we all start somewhere. Make your payments on time and your score will be stellar when you're done. Currently drive a 2014 Sierra that I paid cash for in 2014, so no payments. But I make decent money and saved up for it because in my mind, car debt limits your financial opportunities to do other shit you like to do

Any accountant will tell you financing cars, especially for long term, is a shit deal. Even with 0% interest, the time value of money decreases the purchasing power of your fixed monthly rate, so you end up paying more than the car's worth later on.

>An investment is an asset or item that is purchased with the hope that it will generate income or appreciate in the future. In an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth. In finance, an investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or appreciate and be sold at a higher price.

How bad does your credit have to be for a 14% interest rate? Holy shit.
>>
>>14868356
What point are you even trying to make? The fact is that classic cars can and do appreciate even with maintenance and storage factored into it. Feel free to look at >>14868337. And again, even if some people make or lose money that has no bearing on whether or not it's an investment (see the stock market). If you or anyone else still fails to grasp this I give up.

My first car was something like %12, but I didnt have a credit history and nobody co-signed with me
The credit check they did on my mom to see if she could cosign brought her credit from just over 600 to jjust below 500. 600 was the minimum
>>
>>14868415
A credit check on your mom dropped her credit from 600 to 500?

wtf

>>

nah man, from like 602 to 598 or some shit like that, but no bank would let her cosign if her credit was lower than 600. So by her having her credit checked to see if she could cosign for me, she made herself ineligible to do so.
It was really stupid lol

213 Nissan maxima sv sport
Bought it last month certified used. Only 24k miles.
Extended warranty up to 100k
Financed 16k
Monthly is 300 @ 4.8% but in refinancing in a week for 1.99% or so to get better rate, I went thru Nissan to get rebates.
Feels good to be young and have good credit.

Well, doesn't matter if you care about credit or not, it still is a big part of being an adult. With good credit you can:
Get a great rate on a mortgage for when you buy a house
Get good insurance rate (fuck insurances for doing this, but whatever it is what it is.)
Some jobs will included credit report on their background check before they hire you.
You will be able to buy a car at 0% interest while you invest your money at a better return Raye (put money in a cc account and earn interest)
I work alongside rich people in Princeton and it's not uncommon for them to finance cars.

How bad is your credit score to get such a ludicrous interest rate? My car was 5 years old when I bought it (paid off in 48 months) and I managed to get an interest rate of 3.8%. Keep in mind I was still paying credit cards and student loans when I purchased it. Hell my score wasn't even that great (it's still the same - around the 615 - 630 mark).

This is a hundred percent incorrect. Time value of money means that money today is worth more than money in the future.

And if you get a long enough lease with a low APR then inflation can make your car payment cost you relatively less than it used to.

Y'all niggas scare me. I'm in the market to buy a car, but I wouldn't even dream of paying some of the prices you guys are. I really don't want to make car payments.

That certainly helps but it'll take a really long time to build up your credit that way. Paying off a loan accelerates the process.

First thing I did when I was a kid was get a credit card with my dad as a co-signer, then I got my own credit card under my own name. Then I made payments on a new queen size bed. And recently I put $8K down on a new $14K car. With the small loan and semi-established credit history, payments aren't a problem at all for me. My next step is to buy a house, but I'll make sure to fully pay off the car before I take a home loan.
