I've lied about being at a race track, so much so that I knew the track by heart, including all the details about it. Prices, location, how to get there, gas stations on the way and restaurants that were popular.
>>
>>14863649
might as well say you don't know how to drive.
>>
People who are really into cars are boring
(Like its their only hobby/ all they talk about)
>>
I really don't think there's anything wrong with FWD cars
>>
>>14863722
I've found this, too. I'm MRE knowledgeable than a lot of my friends about cars, but some people I meet, Jesus fuck. Its like the need to CONSTANTLY one up you.

I deposited my sperm into my sump to feel closer to my car

Xterras and 4runners always beat my 2014 wrangler at the local pulls and muddin contests.

I shill jeeps in the off road general and lie about my skills.
i talk down xterras to death
I tell people 4runners are shit.

Im so sorry
>>
>>14863649
I prefer FWD cars. Probably because it's less scary and I feel more in control, but I've owned 3 RWD cars and now my first FWD car and I'm never going back.

I tripfag because I don't like the idea of not being noticed in a crowd

Even though my car was built in the 21st century, I still warm it up for a few minutes before driving off

What's wrong with her?
>>
>>14863930
Nope. Need to let oil pressure build up so lubrication is happening. In most modern cars that takes all of a few seconds. Best way to warm a car up is to drive it gently until normal operating temperature is reached
>>

I make irrational bmw hate threads every 24-48 hours because I'm too poor to afford one. I want literally any BMW, I dont care which one, other than the SUVs. They're all cool as fuck.

She doesn't pay attention when driving, typically talking on the phone, eating, doing makeup, or checking social media.

Last week she was snapchatting in the car while driving on I-45 in Houston.

She never learns from her mistakes, and my dad buys her a brand new car every time. Last time instead of getting her a Porsche Cayenne or some other obscenely expensive SUV as he's done in the past... he got her a BMW X1.

Get ya a honda, throw a FMI unit, and turbo kit on it, no need for injectors, ecu, tuners and all that bullshit... run ya 3-6 lbs of boost and kickass on the street.
even better if ya get the v6-accords with j30/32 or an h23 non-vtec prelude.

>>
>>14864477
Its because people are scared of the 2005-2010 frontier xterra auto trans problems mostly its a reasurense / cash grab thing were doing to convince customers were good agin but in reality you can go 60k or more with out worrying i personaly change mine every 30k becuase thats what i was told by my grand father and all my mantknce is free. Its a bullet proof truck just do your self a favor and get the 4x4 model for resale value and snow

>>14864481
Same here to bad the maxima is automatic only the 5 speed versa is as reliable as an old corola

>pro tip
If your car has a cvt and a manual mode try to only use manual mode and ALWAYS let the cvt warm up before you hoon
>>
I used to suck at driving before I watched Initial D.

ever considered gathering accident reports on her and anonymously mailing them to the local DMV office?

Maybe her license will get suspended and you'll save a few lives...
>>
>>14864506
Sounds good, thanks.

I have the S base model crew cab VQ40 with 4x4. I don't really care about resale as I intend to drive it until it dies. Currently at 37k in 2 years, so far so good. Wish it was better on fuel but whatever.
>>
>>14864528
Niceee any pictures or mods?

With Nissan trucks you get reliableaty and torque over mpgs and speed remember that when your cruseing at 300k miles
>>
>>14864542
Not really, I have a few on my phone but it is all bone stock. Only thing I did was unbadge my tailgate. Still has the Nissan logo but I took off the "Frontier" and "4X4."

One of the few reasons I bought it over a Taco is because of value, horsepower/torque, 4 wheel disc brakes and fully boxed frame. I figured it is hasn't had major changes in 10 years so it would be reliable enough.
>>
>>14864624
Just keep up with oil changes and schedualed mantince (dont stress trand fluid to much) and it will last forever

Also Tacomas are way over priced for some reason
>>
>>14864649
I was just going to change it anyway...not going to hurt unless I mess it up amirte?

Yeah, Tacoma's have that "Toyota reliability" premium. Resale prices are insane, sometimes it is just cheaper to buy a new one.
>>
I also can't drive manual
I want to, but I have no idea how to go about learning it if I don't already own a manual car.
>>
>>14863649
pushing in the left pedal disconnects the engine from the gears and you need to do this in between changing gears

the only part of driving a manual (for everyday non-performance driving) that requires more skill than using a paddle shifter is starting from a dead stop. pushing in the left pedal, shifting into first, and releasing the left pedal too fast will stall a car because it doesn't have enough power at a low RPM to overcome the dead weight. to fix this either release the pedal more slowly or give the engine more gas to increase the power or do both.

there no you know how to drive a manual transmission
>>
>>14865095
You buy one, and then you either learn fast or die hard.
>>
>>14865095
it is trivial to learn. the only reason people don't know how to do it is because they haven't taken the 30 seconds it takes to learn in a parking lot somewhere.
>>
>>14865184
>*clutch out*
>*stall*
>"hehe whoops"
>*restart engine*
repeat 5 times to learn manual
>>
>>14863722
This.
I'm studying vehicle engineering and it's full of people like this
>>
>>14865184
I'm sure it is, it sounds simple enough
the closest thing I have to practice on is a 89 ford ranger that my brother partially blew the transmission out on when he attempted to learn. I doubt it was his fault, but it scared him enough he gave up on it.
It no longer has a reverse or 5th gear, nor has it been started since then which was about 6 years ago.

Where to begin

>I follow the speed limit pretty religiously, yet drive a moderately fast car
>I hate talking about my car out of fear of sounding like a smarmy ass, and would rather talk about other people's cars (positively)
>I don't race anyone, ever

I mention the last one because I was cruising home tonight and a camaro ss was behind me. When we got to the traffic light, as soon as it turned green, my passenger tells me he's glancing at me and then he floors it, only to slam the brakes because of the 2 cars blocking both lanes. I don't want to look like that.

my father bought a 13 civic hybrid cvt (traded in his 06 bmw 550i, i know dumb fucking trade) and he drives a lot to work everyday. he already has 73k on the car and he hasnt bought cvt trans fluid for me to change it yet so its still on original fluid. ive been making sure to change the oil every 5k with oem filters, changed the filters, will need brakes soon, on new tires and have a set of plugs ready for when they need to replaced. how fucked is he. i should of made him get a jetta tdi sportwagen. as he only gets 40mpg and the car is slow as fuck. my dd 2.4 camry literally blows its doors off. and the bmw was fast as fuck. he is not a car person.
>>
>>14872554
73k miles on original cvt fluid is asking it to kill its self. I hope you mean non freedom units of travel. Any thing cvt is bound to die ask him about his rpms if he frequently goes over 4000 during normal operation (ie cruising and not hooning or on an incline) or if the car feels "stuck" in a "grear" your fucked

Never

Ever

Ever

Buy a cvt i can't stress this enough if a standard auto or 5 speed is available even if it's more expensive go for it cvts are unreliable slow and sloppy.

He managed to buy the least reliable civic he could

>expensive to fixhybrid bull shit
>cvt

Your best bet if its paid off os to trade it in for a non cvt anythingbutthatmememobiel even another civic

Hybrid anything
Interference engine
Cvt
A nissan that isn't a truck
A Toyota that dosent have a 4speed auto or 5 speed trans

>protip
Civics out side of bone stock manual ones have never been reliable

The timeing belt in my xterra (much older engine) took about half an hour 3 beers and a prayer but i got ot done quick enough how do these people drive to warrant this many miles??
>>
>>14872803
>my 02 camry has the 4 speed auto. flushed all fluids and did all the wear items except the chain and its going past 186k with no issues in sight.
I will have to talk to him . He usually ignores what i say and always thinks im trying to get him to spend the most money. Before i started doing all my work he did no maintenance what so ever. somehow his old 04 crv had 240k miles when he traded that in but it got rear ended twice so the frame was fucked up and it drove odd after the accidents. he drives 130 miles 5 days a week back and fourth to work. my mother drives 100 miles each day. her old suburban had 170k when it was sold and i always had a feeling the odyssey wouldnt last that long without some kind of failure of a major item.

ive probably spend like 4k but i have more planned when i get a better job.

i will tell my mother too. she would actually understand what im saying and not just think im saying bs. i was against the cvt from the start. my first mistake was not going with them to buy either car. they really fucked up. when i was younger they had a 04 odyssey which they traded to my grandparents and at 170k the trans shit itself but they only paid like 1,5k to get a new honda one replaced somehow. but they just had the timing belt done and its at 207k and drives great. and the trans on the new van is a piece of shit too i just changed the oil on that today. it has very bad vibration and noise from the steering wheel even at 40mph. at 80 its awful. who knows how long that has been going on

Those people are terrible. I once said I was thinking about turboing my car for shits and giggles, one friend laughed (it was a shitbox so the joke was apparent) and then another friend is all "you will need a new manifold, and an ecu upgrade and then you will probably fry your pistons and you will then need a new intake throttle body plenum injector carburettor engine gearbox...."

The worst part, I'm very knowledgeable about cars and engines, so every time something like this came up he would try and point out how he knew so much more and that pissed me off so I'd go deeper and take it further. Then he'd always respond with "yeah obviously, I knew that".

I can sit and talk with all my other car friends about any hypothetical or real situation and not have an issue. But this one guy, he just pushes that autism button inside me.

God damn I'm autistic/10

I'm looking for an rx8 to buy as a daily.
I'm going to Bridgeport it.

I will then buy a 20b from a Cosmo and swap that in.

Porting a renesis is expensive and not easy
It is possible to make 260hp at the flywheel with exhaust, aggressive tune, larger injectors and stock intake manifold

i can see that you've never been to /pol/ (not that that's a bad thing) - it's the "politically incorrect" board. essentially, it's edgy 17-year-old white cucklords shitting on "sjws" and minorities. /pol/ is definitely a misleading name for the board, but it is certainly not a forum for all things political

I drive a w-body that's rusted to hell. I keep telling myself it's not so bad to make myself feel better.

I get too attached to things. Including my rusted W-body. And my mom's old Chrysler T&C.

I don't have enough confidence to wrench on an engine. Suspension I can maybe do, but I don't have enough confidence to work on an engine.

The most I've done on a car is oil change, brakes, and recently an ABS sensor.

I don't know how to drive manual.
>>
I don't like speaking to other car enthusiats if at all unless they drive the same platforms that I do. I can speak to someone for hours about my experiences with a miata or an MR2 from repairing them or driving them, but when it comes cars that I don't give a shit or have zero experience with like BMWs or Hondas, I'm automatically expected to know every single variant of them which pisses me off.

Driving cars in city traffic makes me really nervous. Just something about being stuck in a box while other unpredictable cars and pedestrians swarm around me in a hurry.
