>buying anything other than a Tesla

>cars currently go 200-400 miles on a single charge
>Promise to have a car going 1000 miles on a single charge by 2020
>5,000+ superchargers worldwide to recharge your car for free
>5,000+ more being built

Why would you even consider buying a gas guzzling car with so much innovating in Tesla cars? Did you pre-order your Tesla 3 /o/?
>>
With my work, a Tesla would be awful.

My boss gave me a BMW i3 for a couple months, and getting to/from job sites 400+ miles away was a fucking pain.

It really depends on your location.

See if a tesla supercharger is near you:
https://www.teslamotors.com/supercharger

They're building 5000+ more as we speak.
>>
>>14862378
I would have to divert my routes 1-2 hours to get to most super chargers.

It's easier for me to just use a gas car. In the past 3 weeks I've put nearly 5k miles on my car.

Silicon Valley should stop breaching containment. Those collectivist fucks are ruining everything they touch. Car culture will become indistinguishable from mobile phone culture thanks to Tesla

>10 000 supercharging stations is a lot
Compare that to the number of petrol station there are brer.
Also
>muh Tesla getting to Canada now
>even with the plans for new stations, three provinces are completely left out, a ridiculously small area of the country is actually covered
The reason why people are not considering getting a Tesla is because some folks need trucks, some folks need very smal lcars, some people need large cargo space and since that's not fancy nd marketable, Tesla doesn't give a shit. And that's their loss because the day EVs will be a viable alternative for petrol is precisely the day you can get a beater/utilitarian EV with enough power and range.
>>
>>14862310
I have this revolutionary idea, but hold your horses it's just a concept.
What if, instead of turning fuel into electricity, then transferring it into a battery as chemical energy and then again transferring it to motion.
What if you actually put the fuel directly in your vehicle?
BOOM
I'm going to make a fortune with this.

Stop denying the future, once Egon realizes we might be ready, he will release his new supercharging technology that reloads your car while it runs without even going to any station.

>>
If I bought a Tesla, which I would never because I'm fucking poor, I like the fact that your car would actually benefit from future advances in technology. Let's say you've got a 400 mile range today, but in 10-20 years when you need to replace your batteries (which would be fucking expensive) you'll get the latest battery technology which would increase your car's range and battery life. This is assuming technology does develop.

>>14865101

Bullshit. An iPhone gets slower with every new iOS. Androids get faster. Try keeping an iPhone beyond two years.
>>
>>14865154
too be fair a Gt500 with street radials would run like 11 flat or faster.
motor trend sucks at driving cars.
>>
>>14862324
I am a big fan of EVs, but I will admit that for some things they are not practical yet, not even a Tesla, if you have to drive a lot in areas without charging possibilites.
>>
>>14862897
Except a lot of electricity comes from hydro, solar, wind and nuclear. And you also need massive amounts of electricity to refine gas or diesel. The electricity needed to refine 60-70 liters of gas is almost enough for a full charge of a Tesla.
>>
>>14865101
OS support means shit when the phone starts spassing out after 2 years
>>
>>14865246
>>14865101
>Apple longest OS support time

iPads made in 2010 can't upgrade to the newest firmware and all the modern software is locked behind the newest firmware. Meanwhile my laptop from 2004 can run things made in 2015 and my car from 1993 can charge said laptop. Of course Apple isn't doing this on accident, they're doing it on purpose so you have to spend more money on the newest gadget.

Android is the same way except modern software runs on pretty much all versions of android.

>>
>>14865246

That's such bullshit. We have iPhone 4's at my work that certain departments use and they work fine. They're not upgraded to the newest OS because they weren't built for it, but they still work perfectly running the OS that they're meant to use. You'd see the same thing upgrading an old ass computer to a brand new OS. Android is also more buggy because it has to run across various devices.

iPhone and Apple have their faults but their shit generally works well if you use common sense with them which is why a lot of corporations use them for their phones and tablets.

kek, I'm like a bottom tier engineer at my company and I earn 150k a year. Rent in my city starts at 4k/mo so I really don't have that much money to play with but I can easily afford a model S. How do you guys manage to earn less than 150-130k?

>>
>>14862310
I really don't like how it looks, and it's nowhere near as luxurious/comfortable as our (ok, my gf's) CLS Class.

I'm not interested in any EV until the range is as at least as big, and the time to recharge is as short as refueling (or the range being like 5 time the range of a petrol car).

That said, I would be ok with the range/charge time if there was an EV I'd really like, but there isn't.

The looks & feel of a car will always be most important to me, and the Model S is one of the most boring looking vehicles in my opinion.

>>
>>14865076
Or they will just give you a replacement just like your old one because they want you to upgrade to a newer model
>>
>>14862310
The Tesla 3 is in consideration for my next car. Once they're up to 450 miles on a charge and charge in 15 minutes tops, it's viable.
The tech's not far off.

As it is, it'd work fine for a DD, but I wouldn't be able to do longer runs on it like with my Focus.
