What's the best oil filter brand, and why is it Wix?
>he uses anything but based Frantz
step up anon
>>14861137
amisol and royal purple tend to be good albeit expensive
>>14861147
Mobile1>amsoil>royal purple
Fram is obviously the best.
>>14861137
Wix is one of the best.
>>14861147
>royal purple
>good
Pick one. It's just made for people who think >muh racekar
What makes one oil filter better than another?
>inb4 k&n air filter tier memes
>>14861188
mobile 1 can have inconsistent pleat size/number depending on the overall size of the filter itself
really we can all agree on no fram or K&N
>>14861213
I won't comment on their oil or cost, but their filters are just as good as any of the other top brands
>>14861188
I see you are a Mobil1 guy, I am also a Mobil1 guy myself.
>>14861213
Royal purple is good stuff, no disputing that. Overpriced? Yes. Does everyone need it? No. Does anyone need it? Maybe not. But it is certainly quality stuff if you don't mind dishing out the extra money.
>>14861216
>>14861242
None of this means anything without some standardised test measuring flow and particle capture to back it up. I said no k&n meme shit.
>>14861137
I've always used Wix for my cars, but I've switched over to Bosch now because lolGerman, and my local Autozone didn't have Wix.
I haven't even changed the oil or filter yet. I should do that.
>>14861265
Higher quality components = tougher/better
Purflux=MANN>the rest
>>14861265
>I said no k&n meme shit.
fuck off with that
MOST K&N oil filters are known to be shit because of well documented deficiencies ranging from cheap as shit cardboard and plastic construction to half the filter material of comparable filters
and it results in bad standardized tests
there are plenty of forums or whatever shit out there that have published the results of those tests and their methodology
you asked
>What makes one oil filter better than another?
see >>14861242
>pleats, end caps, drainback and bypass valves
also, K&N weren't mentioned anywhere in that picture
>>14861302
There is nothing to say a bypass valve made of metal will outperform one made of plastic over the 5-10k miles you will use it. Unless of course there is some concrete proof to say you should use a more expensive filter over the oem spec one.

ok, I googled oil filter comparison and found this
all three of the ~12$ filters mentioned here >>14861188
performed excellently
where the cheaper filters let more particulate through
>>14861364
Thanks. I retract my statement. Just wanted to see some evidence beyond manufacturer "claims" and brandwhoring. There's so much broscience involved in cars that it's hard to just take peoples word for anything.

>not using Motocraft everything on your Ford brand Ford
Mih
Why not Purolator?
>>14861998
Ok that's kinda neat
>>14861137
Purolator Boss
>>14861998
Where does one go about purchasing a filter like this
>>14861137
>no Bosch

Here you go, most comprehensive oil filter comparison on the net I could find. Meme brands btfo.
>>14863228
Bosch is overpriced shit, generally.
I only get Mopar now.
>>14861310
The reason I know you're wrong is because K&N filters are re branded mobile 1 filters with a nut welded on top

been using fleetguard for oil filter, dirt cheap and seem to be pretty good quality, i'm sure you guys will advise me otherwise as required.
I use wix on the Acura and R1.
M3 gets a Mahle. Mann is good too, however they are wider and have trouble going in and out of the oil filter housing without it making contact with the lower part of the intake manifold.
>Toyota OEM
I'm a faget
>>14867760
I've heard Toyota OEM is so good that people with other non-Toyota vehicles buy them and install on their cars.
>>14861142
Word, that's my middle name.
NAPA re-brands wix filters (gold)

Fuck all of these, MANN filters. BOSCH for Japanese cars. All shop grade filters, none of that walmart tier shit
>>14868630
I want to be paid in Corollas too
OEM filters
>>14865210
Thanks bruh
>>14869281
Fleece MANN filters are GOAT
>>14872022
I thought this too...until I found out OEM Nissan filters are FRAM. I'll just stick with my good ol' Purolator Pureone.
>>14861137
I use whatever factory replacement part the car calls for.
AC Delco for Chevy
Mopar for Chrysler
Motorcraft for Ford
Toyota for Honda
You get the point, those are always the best filters you can get.
>>14872209
>those are always the best filters you can get.
No they are not, they just werk though, but so will most brands.
>Toyota for Honda
lel

One Corolla has been deposited to your account.
I just get whatever's on sale, same with oil.
If you change your oil often enough does it really matter?
pic related for my 66 mustang for that oem goodness look
I usually use white purolators for the truck, but dubs mart stopped carrying them, currently working through some rebranded purolators i got for like $1 a piece
The suppressive ones.
