Fiesta ST is glorious and well worth the money. Stay out of boost for absurd empeegees in the low 30's city. Light winters are ok, but not with the stock summer tires. Manual recommends some 185's and I've heard very happy success stories from those users. Don't bother with the recaros not worth the extra money. If you REALLY want to change the seats, it's cheap enough to do your own.

If you want a drag racer on that budget get a V6 or Ecoboost Mustang, you can cross shop them with the 2.0T Camaro (which I have literally never heard anything about, ever) or the Focus ST/Mazdaspeed3/WRX crowd.
If you're looking at used cars you should consider a '14 Mustang GTs are under $25k now with low miles.

It's not 'only' one guy's opinion, there are plenty of people who think like that. Not trying to say the Focus ST is bad or a slow car, it's just not as subjectively good as the Fiesta by people who drive often and both.

Yes, that may be the case more often than not, but the focus is always way faster (especially with more weight in it/higher speeds), it is driftable (if you are into that, the ESP in that thing is really fun, maybe not very sensible but fun), it sounds a lot better.
Then there are subjective aspects like the looks (wheels/exhaust).
I have test driven both and for me the FoST is way superior (if that justifies the price is another question), but there is definitely no "objectively better". And If OP wants somethin clos/below 6 seconds the Focus is right up the alley, whereas the FiST is way off.
Any again, I do understand what people like about the FiST, but there is a large portion of drivers who wouldnt be satisfied with the power/sound/driving style. And thats OK, isn´t it?

It's ok m8, you make some good points about the Focus. Also, not having a 4 door Fiesta ST in yurp makes it all the more appealing and practical. They are a lot closer in terms of practicality in the States since they are both 4 doors.
They're both fun! I think the Fiesta is just generally considered the better hot-hatch, which in no way makes the Focus bad, just does things a bit differently. Any car buyer should be driving both before making their decision, I'm glad you enjoy your car so much.

When I´m going out with friends i´d hate that seat rearranging. Also, with 3-4ppl in it, it already becomes significantly slower. I think the FiST engine with it´s 1.6l would struggle even more. That was basically the deciding aspect for me.
