Why are there no RWD cars that can get decent gas mileage? Even smaller 4 cylinder engines can't get more than 30mpg, is it an inherent flaw in RWD design?
More places for power loss, grow a pair and go v8, turbo 6 if you can afford it

could be aero
there are some more esoteric aspects of packaging
that said with RR or MR you can make the front any shape you want
>>14860508
dafuq you just said?
>>14860508
I think the ae86 got about 30mpg
I bet the starlet did pretty well too.

>Renault will never bring this to huehuezil
;_;
I just want to see an Up vs Twingo battle.

>27 city
>34 highway
>30 combined
U WOT M8
Typically more weight and more opportunities for parasitic loss.
Typically, not always.

>ff
>crx hf
>up to 50 mpg documented
im drunk so yeah
>What is diesel?

That's still pretty shitty gas mileage for such a tiny car with a small engine
>>14860508
Because most RWD cars are performance oriented, not fuel economy oriented. That said, I can get 33 mpg on the highway in my IS350 no problem. I would expect other cars like the 335i/340i to get similar numbers too.

rwd cars are usually geared/equipped for more sporty performance

Owners report upwards of 40mpg if they drive it without hooning everywhere.
Smart cars
some Kei cars
though really, no one bothers to make rwd for fuel economy.
oh and the Model S/3/X are very efficient.
Because the only rwd cars that are tiny shitboxes with tiny 4 cyls are miats.
New miats get 32 mpg average
It's an inherent flaw in big engined large cars, which most rwd cars are.

mostly because people want to go fast.
The 1978 B-210 (American model) with five-speed transmission was rated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency at 50 mpg-US (4.7 L/100 km; 60 mpg-imp) highway fuel economy.

The issue is that FWD is cheaper to make, so most economical cars are made FWD.
Rear wheel drive cars that did better than 40mpg were once a thing.
>>14860508
Most RWD cars are sporty and have more aggressive gearing and throttle response
Also drivetrain loses
