Be a taxi driver with your own car is a dumb idea period, you're getting scammed and working for less than minimum wage. I hope I helped you OP decide whether or not you wanted to sign up with Uber.

So you make $15-20k a year, but then your car now suddenly has an extra 24k miles on it (100 miles per day; 5 days a week) add on your regular driving miles to that and you're cutting your car's life in half by a factor of 3 at the least.
>>

We should open a business called "G/o/tta Go Fast" where you pay an exorbitant fee to get where you need to be at ultra-illegal speeds. Waiver is mandatory.

helmets are heavy, so that's out. Also, in the interest of weight reduction, no clothes allowed. And all cars involved must have a full tube frame and no body panels because that shit is weak and heavy.

Apparently Uber has a lease program that's more like a long-term rental, and you can drop it at any time. My friend has a Fusion through it, and pays $150 a week. That seems pretty crazy for a lease, but he made $3600 in fares last month so he still took almost $3k home, and he only drives about 20 hours a week.
>>
It's illegal here apparently because no one has adequate insurance for commercial passenger transport. Carpooling with compensation is legal though, but for this the driver has to make an offer for extra seats on a route he'd be driving anyway so it doesn't count as commercial transport.

Alright niggers, hear me out:

I hate people. You're on 4chan, you also hate people.
But you want to drive uber, so people will want to do that small talk shit constantly when you'd rather they just sat down and held on while you blast no one sleep in tokyo or remember me.

So here's my idea:
You become an uber driver, but pose as a mute. Put a little sticker on the head rest 'driver is mute, will respond with head shakes or gestures'.
You always smile and act all cheerful, meanwhile they don't talk.
Here's the best part though: If you act like a normie, happy person all the time while having this 'disability', you will absolutely get more tipz because people are like 'nice guy doesn't let his condition stop him, give him another $5'

Tell me this wouldn't be brilliant

It's kinda fun driving drunk people home on weekdays. I just camp out in the capital city of my state between 11pm-2:30am and will get at least 5-6 local ubers and maybe 1-2 farther away ones and make bank. It's really easy to get them to give you 5 stars too because they always try to tip me and I'm just like "nah man keep your money and just give me 5 stars on uber, I already get paid from your fare"

My wife uses Uber exclusively on her business trips now. She's about 20% travel, so it adds up.

She enjoys the bantz, because she's very gregarious and she can get people to talk (she does focus groups for a living - she's very good). She always comes home with some stories of really interesting people. In fact, everyone has an interesting story. It takes a certain type of person to tease it out of them. She does that and enjoys it.

She actually prefers Uber over liveries and taxis now. It gives her practice in bantz.

How does car insurance work when people drive with Uber? Do you have to tell your car insurance company you are doing commercial driving?

I remember Uber has some umbrella policy, but I'd still think the insurance company would want to know...

Maybe when I'm a couple years older, living in Bowling Green, and have a G8 or STI as a second car.

Does anyone know what they check for during the inspection? Could someone manage to slip through with a heavily modded car that's fast as shit? I could imagine that being fun.

They check if all your lights work, wipers, sometimes check your tire depth and brake life. Pretty easy really, lyft takes you on atest drive but its chill

I honestly thought about it. I used to work in the same building that Uber operated in too. That being said, Uber are scum. Their employees are hipster garbage who cant hold the fucking elevator door for you.
The daily line for new drivers in Uber looks like a fucking unemployment line. niggers and pakis around the fucking block. The same cunts also double park on the street. And because of them they now closed off an empty lot next to our office building because the taxi/uber driver would fill it up. I used to walk through that lot from the parking garage, and now I have to walk the fuck around cause its all fenced up.

That aside, I was actually considering Lyft, but my car is older and a 2 door so that disqualifies me.

Even if I had a more modern car, I probably still wouldnt. Its probably some nice cash on the side, but I make enough that working for $10 an hour isnt worth it to me.

I really wish they allowed two doors, and made a exception to cars older than 2001. I'm sure some nice, well maintained classic cars would make great taxis.
Deadmau5 did Uber in his Lambo a while back, so clearly there is wiggle room.

>Yes you are a private hire vehicle like other prebooked taxis.
So then wouldn't your insurance be huge? Commercial insurance is way more expensive because if you have a passenger get hurt then they sue you, etc. Private car insurance doesn't cover that, right?

Even if Uber has some policy that they cover the lawsuits, I doubt car insurance companies would want to take their word for it or that it would stop the lawyers from going after the insurance company...
>>
>>14870785
Uber leaves it up to your to sort out your own insurance. It should be really high for that reason but more often than not Uber driver don't actually tell their insurance companies what they're doing.

It's a bad system for their drivers but hey """disruption""" isn't about thinking things through it's about finding some part of the economics of an established industry to ignore and then making off with buckets of cash before everything collapses.

Interesting. That's pretty stupid on the drivers part. If they have a problem, especially a liability one, there could be an exclusion in their auto insurance policy (and there likely is). They could end up with no insurance coverage because they were 'for hire' and the insurance plan doesn't cover that.

Also shouldn't Uber drivers need a commercial drivers license?
