They're not good wheels, just expensive ones.
>>

HREs are actually great, just not the stupid three-piece luxorice ones.

I always thought they were expensive bullshit for rich guys until I got firsthand experience with them, and the single-piece forged ones are great. They sponsor my old shop, and we had great luck with them over numerous events on both of our track cars. (E92 M3 and 991 GT3.) They held up better than our previous Volks and WAY better than the Apexes we ran for a bit while they sponsored us (we managed to bend four wheels in two sessions on Buttonwillow once), and fit and finish were really nice too.

You have to remembers these sort of wheels are prone to cracking for being brittle
>>
>>14856085
the companies that make those super expensive wheels use very brittle metle with a high nickel content and zinc content
>>
>blaming the wheels

my guess would say the suspension was too stiff and the wheels were overly stressed

I live real close to HRE's shop, can confirm it's really sick. Have heard really good things about them from the people in my car group. I have a 50% off any set of wheels coupon for them that I got from a raffle, would have a set on my car right now but my car came with aftermarket forged wheels stock so I'm not exactly in need of premium wheels right now. They assured me they'd honor the coupon no matter how long it was before I used it so I'm just going to wait a few years until I get a new car.

I have a friend who actually tore a stock steelie in half while cornering hard with sticky tires on it. No thanks.
>>

>Wheels aren't that expensive anyway
Unless you buy nice ones, in which case they just become a more expensive consumable.
>>
>>14856784
ok there is a big difference between reasonably priced aftermarket wheels and stock steelies. you seem to imply that stock steel wheels are the only thing you should ever use.

>not wanting lightweight racing wheels

>not understanding how rotating mass works

Kek. You don't even have to spend much for lightweight, proper fitting, wide wheels that look good. RPF1's are probably about $300 more than a set of rotas and are a 10x better wheel.

>>14856048

i literally can't find any wheels lighter than my OEM alloys on my 02 wrx.

those look like sex feels. what, where and how much?
>>
>>14857273
they are off of the S201 STI, and I think they were offered as an option as well. Rays produced them for Subaru, they are pretty much TE37s made for Subaru. Model is Rays TE07.
But honestly if you want to shed some weight without putting a huge dent in your wallet, just get 98-01 2.5RS wheels. 16x7 and 16 lbs.
>>
>>14857307
well ive already got some money in good tires so if i change wheels i dont want to have to get new tires to fit them, these only have a couple thousand miles on them.
>>
>>14857186
Were the stock wheels 16" or 17"? I used to have an '02 as well, but it came on aftermarket wheels when I bought it.

Maybe RPF1s?
>>
>>14857332
16 inch
>>
>>14857327
your tires will fit a 16x7 no problem
>>
>>14857335
Oh, if you want to go 16x7 and are on a budget, the Sparco Assetto Gara are cheap and quite light, not sure if they're lighter than stock but they're wider. I looked at them for my current Fiesta ST but went with the Terra instead, they're heavy but I cared more about durability than weight.
