I've got a problem /o/. My dad has had this firebird for 2 years and he is letting it rot in the grass and keeps procrastinating. I doubt he'll get it fixed so I want to. It cranks over but won't start. I've jumped the battery and use starter spray. Still won't crank over. Any ideas what would cause this?

Run an OBD2 scanner and see what the check engine says. Buy a Bluetooth scanner off Amazon and buy the app it'll save you time and money I greatly recommend it.

Just take the air filter housing off and let unfiltered air into the engine. Should help you start it but you want to put the air filter back on soon after.

you need 3 things for the car to start
spark
fuel
compression
check for spark then check if fuel is getting to the cylinders
and then for compression you'll find your problem in there

Check the schrader valve int he engine with the key in the run position. You should have fuel coming out.

If no fuel comes out, congratulations your fuel pump isn't working.

Go to Harbor Freight and get a fuel pressure tester and a compression tester. They are about $20 each. Could be a bad fuel pump (just changed one, you have to cut a hole in the floor of the trunk to get to it).

STOP spraying starter fluid in a fuel injected vehicle!

There is no where for the excess pressure to go and it will go boom. Ive seen it happen and your asking for a nasty fire.

Also I recommend you change the fuel filter. Cheap and easy and could be your problem.

If it gets fuel, spark, and air, try checking if the temperature feeler is ded. Might be reading as if the engine is warm, and then giving you less fuel and more air, making it not wanting to crank.

If the car fires for like half a second and then stalls and a Security light is on in the dash you've got a VATS problem. The most common failures are the lock cylinder contacts not actually making contact with the key (new lock cylinder) or the wires that connect the lock cylinder break internally. You'll need a diagnostic flow chart to know how to test for where the failure is. I can't image somebody hasn't uploaded it by this time so it should be on the intertubes somewhere.
