In my experience you will have a much better time dealing with and negotiating with a person who prices their car reasonably.
I wouldnt waste time with something thats overpriced x 2. The owner is probably an idiot.
Some people dont do any research on prices or they look on craigslist for the highest listing for their car and then price theirs as such. People that generally sell shitty cars under 5K are usually stupid or at least have a genuinely low IQ.

A vehicles value is whatever price someone is willing to sell it for and whatever price someone is willing to pay for it.
If someone is willing to pay $10,000 for a car, why the fuck would they sell it to you for $8,000?
If they are overpricing the car then the market will sort it out, the car won't sell because there are no buyers at that price point, then the owner must look at either not selling or lowering their price point.
You are not important, no one cares what price point you think someone else should sell their property at. If you offer them a given amount of money and they don't like it/take it that is their business and their prerogative.
