How does /o/ feel about upper strut bars? For weekend warrior track/autocross/DD used vehicles?
They help. As long as you don't spend stupid amounts of money on them, they're good.

What would be considered a fair price for a brand new one to you?
They're just for show on 5th gen/6th gen camarodads. The chassis is already stiff enough to where there's no flex on the strut towers. Even if it's a dedicated track car you likely won't notice a difference.

I have one, but I don't think it did as much for me as the other parts of bracing I have, like a two-point tie bar, rear torsion beam stiffener, and a trunk brace for the hatch. I also added a rear sway bar which helped out a lot.
I think it's probably a bit more important for a RWD cars than FWD, though I couldn't tell you why I think that is.
>>14838557
I haven't compared prices, so I wouldn't know.
Possibly also important to look at the alloy? Cheap shit, vs science goodness?
>>14838562
They're good on convertibles though.
>>14838563
Maybe because a transverse FWD drivetrain already ties the shock towers together?

Yeah make sure it's made of a decent material, mine were made out of chromoly so I was quite pleased.
Looking up the one I bought, it's listed around $150 now. I got all 4 pieces of my bracing powder coated and shipped to me for $450.

Thanks, I figured that they offer a bit of handing upgrade. Based on your frame and the front how far away from the firewall you are, same for the back.
Just didn't know if people thought they were super ricey and not worth the paying for.
>>14838596
You don't see them, so, they really aren't ricey. And they actually serve a function.
>>14838541
My car already came with one from factory.
>>14838596
some cars have them for the rear towers
lancia for egg
>>14838541
I actually ordered a custom phone case with a picture like you posted, the BMW S14 engine, can`t wait to see how it looks like

This.

>the stock chassis is stiff enough
said nobody who races, ever
>>14838646
>the stock chassis is stiff enough for street use
Better?
Is ultra racing stuff any good?
>>14838666
not what he (you) said
>>14838689
I used Piercemotorsports, Ultra Racing looks slightly lower quality when comparing their product photos, but I have no real experience with them to say.
>>14838541
It depends on the car. In an E30 (pictured) they make no noticeable difference. The body flexes.
Unless you have a shitty noodle chassis it doesn't do much. Like 240s and e30s require it
Alright so it "can" be helpful but isn't always because some frames are better than others.
How much of a difference would this make on my si ? Enough to warrant the cost ?
>>14839632
It'd be mostly rice on your SI.
>>14839632
You would only notice a difference in track use.
The biggest thing is in FWD most of the time either the firewall is connected to the pillars, or they are close enough not to cause a lot of movement. But when you start putting excessive force on it, that changes things.
If you go to car meets though no one will know and they will just fawn over your bay.
>>14839632
Something like this would give you much more stability in cornering, you could probably find a few more complimentary pieces but they'd all be out of site and no one would know for the most part:

It helped on my Legacy GT. Got a used steel JDM one for $110 shipped from Oregon to Texas.
Significantly reduced cowl shake in my last convertible.
there is a mugen replica front strut bar for rsx asking for $30, should i hop on it?
I bought a Megan Racing strut tower bar for my Si. $100 plus shipping, I installed it the same time I did my front coilovers so I'm sure the coilovers made the biggest difference in drive feel, but the strut bar probably helps a bit.

>Replica
Probably do as much as tying piano wire to each bolting area.
>>14840127
>almost 100% matches firewall
Well if your firewall was garbage it helped.
