gas mileage is poor but other than that they are really good cars
im 6 foot 2 and i can fit in them very comftorably. at 238 horsepower for a rear wheel drive 4 banger it doesnt get any better. the F20c1 motor is very easy to work on and the oil filter and oil changes are fuck easy. theres plenty of room in the engine bay to do maintinence. the first gen ones red line at 9000 rpm while the second gen ones redline at 8000rpm. i have honestly never seen one break down even with almost 200k miles on them. they have timing chains not timing belts so your good there. also the wheels are staggered so you will change your rear tires twice before replacing the fronts once so a 2 in 1 interval. they are expensive cars but maintaining them is cheap. only complaint i have is reversing you cant really see unless the top is down. i usually poke my head out the window and look behind me which might get tedious after a while. all in all 6 speed manual is fun to drive and they can be loud as fuck and fast when tastfully modified

forgot to add that yes they can take a fucking beating for a high compression 4 cylinder so yes premium fuel is required i might not use it for daily use unless its your only vehicle other than that its a spirited driving/weekend car. my buddy has a first gen with 150k miles on it and he averages 26mpg which is pretty good for those cars

Over heard an executive from American Honda say it to my service manager he didn't say anything else after that unfortunately.
We were also supposed to get the 2017 ridge line in February but the pushed the due date to next year. Our dealership won the president's award and one of the American Honda executive I spoke to said it was currently in Texas testing it's off road capabilities.
Also the new type R is due to debut next year. Unfortunately no hatch back it's only available in Japan. No specific due date set.
No word on a 2016 si rumor has it the new 2017 civic type R replaced it but unconfirmed.

Hate to break it to you, but it is Honda's fault that they put a shitty Takata airbag in their car. This is exactly why you are supposed to have supplier quality controls and proper validation testing.
If there were problems, they should have found them before the car went on sale, and told Takata to sort their shit out or look for another supplier.
Sure, things slip through. Recalls happen. But Honda picks up the tab for buying dud airbags and selling them to their customers.
