I want to purchase a salvage MazdaSpeed3 and swap it's engine, trans, brakes, and a few suspension components into my Mazda5.
Prices for them are pretty cheap for what I want, and the cars are damn near identical, so I figure it shouldn't be too difficult.
What do my br/o/thers think of a micro-van on steroids?

I've seen that. The can-bus is what really threw a wrench in their build. It shouldn't be a problem with the 2012 Mazda5.

not sure if you realize this but some people like to do things because they're different and unique. mazdaspeed5 is a fairly unique build.
a Honda build is about as generic as you can get
I think it'll be an interesting project. I use to own a 2010 MazdaSpeed3 and it was a lot of fun.
Granted, the Mazda5 is 200lbs heavier than the 3, but I think it should be somewhat close to what I remember.

One of the auto magazines did this exact project a few years back, it was either Road & Track or C&D.
