For a real classic you should get it from Arizona or New Mexico or someplace like that, Florida for imports. What you want to get from California is the /o/ "classic" 80s or 90s cars dirt cheap that can't pass California emissions then drive them back to your home state and register them there.

California is honestly 1 of the best states for car culture. It's got something for everyone and plenty of shops.

The desert is a great place to get classic cars cheap in good mechanical condition. These days that sunscorched sandblasted "patina" can actually look "aesthetic" especially if you bring it somewhere it doesn't happen naturally. Replace the baked, cracked dash and throw some seat covers on it.
