I have a Golf 2.5 and I often see lots of love for other 5 cylinder engines on /o/.
But not much love at all for VW in general..
Is this just a meme? Or is modern VW still as unreliable as people on here seem to make it out to be?
Mine has been great besides the occasional bs with the interior, but mechanically it's solid so far
It sounds nice, because i5.
It's also pretty realiable for a VW engine, from what I've heard.
I drove a 09 VW Rabbit with one and was a bit underwhelmed with how quiet it was. 170ish HP at 2.5L is pretty weak too.

>only 2 mpg better than the VR6 with 100 more hp
>power of an i4
It's shit. The 1.8t is infinitely better.
Where is it?
It's all about the 2.5 Volvo straight five

Mine has been fine. I have a 2012 golf with the 2.5 and haven't had a single issue at 50k...
My interior is also fine (for now).

Been thinking of slapping a larger turbo on mine :V
but that low end torq is nice as hell

Same here, want some more power on the higher RPMs but that low torque for city driving is pretty great
How do these engines react to sequential turbos? maybe put a small turbo on it to keep the low RPM torq and a big turbo for high RPM power

Yup, it's in my DD Golf. It's a great engine for the cost.

Very reliable.
Cool, seems I'm not the only one with a Golf 2.5 on here lol
They can make decent power with a short runner intake manifold though, 200-205bhp and if you really have stupid money you can tarboo them
