So I would like an opinion and I know the internet has a lot of them. I have this Mazda that has 185k and gets about 20 mpg even with the tires on it. It's a good little truck but I drive about 35 miles to work one way so around 70 miles a day. I know this truck isn't worth very much maybe $2k with the right high schooler. So my question is do I keep it till it blows and then buy my commuter car? Or sell it for what I can and then buy my commuter?

Assuming you make that commute 5 days a week, got 2k for your truck, and the new car got 33mpg, it'd take 69 months to break even @ $1.95/gal, 62 months @ $2.20, 34 months @ $4.00

What's the reason you want to sell?

That's why I mentioned them to begin with. They are 31's and I only have the 3.0 engine. And they're 10.5 wide. That doesn't help

Mostly mpg. I have my Cummins which I pull with and will drive on road trips and such. This is my dd and trail truck. And I really don't hit the trails that often, maybe 10 times a year including hunting

well assuming your commute is mostly highway a large diameter actually helps you. it'll hurt you in the city and getting up to speed but once your up to speed it'll help. the problem is the weight, if you had just some shitty 2ply passenger tires you'd see a pretty big difference

They are heavy tires. Load range e and I think 10 ply. I didn't want a blowout on the trail
