What are some good affordable hard top convertibles that aren't the fucking mazda? The SLK230K with the AMG pack looks pretty good, but I can't find any other alternatives that are decent.
S2000?
Opel Speedster or its local name wherever you are?
Mercedes convertibles are boring AF
BMW z3 is okay
Z4 is okay
S2000 is GOAT but not folding hardtop, either solid hardtop or soft top
Miata is good enough to make you mad
>>14820340
This
>>14820325
>S2000
>Opel Speedster
>hard top convertible
nope
>>14820340
i don't think the Z3 is available with a folding hard top. I like the merc SL but it's not that affordable
>>14820310
i went for that fucking mazda. there's not much else available in the same price range apart from total shitboxes like pic related or the 207cc. Z4 is probably the next step up.
check if the hard tops take up trunk space and/or require additional space behind the car when raising/lowering the roof. shit can get annoying fast.
>>14820310
>mercedes slk 230
>affordable
pick one
>>14820340
The SLK looks great with some extras. With the full AMG pack it can look pretty agressive. It can also have a serious look with the top on. I just can't pop on a bussiness meeting with a Miata.
Does the z3 and z4 come with hard tops by default or do you need some sort of extra?
The z3 looks too date and Miata-ish, the z4 looks more solid, at least this version:

The s2000 has no hardtop convertible so im not interested.
Overall I can't find a better car than the 230slk for the price.
>>14820371
Oh wait, "hard top convertible" as in it has a hardtop that folds away? I thought it could also mean one that a hardtop is available for
Learn something new every day...
>>14820390
How is it not an affordable car?
Anything under 10k€ is affordable for me, and 230k then to go under that. Just changing the rims can give it an agressive look that transforms the car so you avoid the "convertible car for girls" factor, I can't do that as easy on the rest of the cars.
>>14820412
well i (correctly) assumed that OP meant a folding hardtop in particular since he's asking about the SLK. there's no universal term for it, other manufacturers call it a power retractable hardtop, coupe convertible, coupe cabriolet, roadster coupe, etc.
>>14820418
I only ever see women driving these, usually snooty types with their large sunglasses and many rings, and typically with the latest igadget held to her head or in front of her face.
>>14820398
z3 and e85 z4 are soft top. e89 z4 is hard top.
>>14820456
I think you are a 100% correct
Lexus SC430 maybe
>>14820539
That car in black + agressive rims is not a woman's car. I always see women driving the stock one.
>>14821148
Paint a nigger white and he's still a nigger
>>14821148
>agressive rims
What does that even mean?
>>14820563
That thing is fucking expensive, all are sold for more than 10k+€.
>>14821165
you should know unless aspie
>>14821165
it's a really cringey way of saying wide wheels with a low offset.
>>14821213
That's an SL not an SLK.....
>>14821213
>aspie
I wouldn't call that "aggressive" you nitwit. Those are just dime-a-dozen 3 piece Y-spoke wheels. The same kind that every stancefag and brodude puts on his slammed sik ryde brah
G37?
>>14820310
>>14820310
why not just get a softtop?
>>14821237
>>14821274
sucks
>>14821253
looks sick but not affordable
affordable 10k€ or less
the slk is a pretty good performing car.
at least, the AMG version is. Very fun, i enjoyed driving it a lot.
>hardtop convertibles
pig fat!
enjoy your slow
>>14821353
You mean 230K with AMG kit? or the SLK32? because thats too expensive.
>>14821363
no, the slk55.
I know that's out of your price range but i enjoyed driving it, so i'm just letting you know the SLK is a great chassis.
You can put aftermarket suspension on, rims and perhaps get a bit more power out and you'll enjoy the SLK, it handles very well.
>>14820398
>can't pop on a business meeting with a Miata
Driving a Miata is going to look way better then driving your try hard second hand Mercedes. There is a very fine line between looking professional and trying to hard.
Why you should even care about what car your driving to a business meeting is beyond me. Most aren't going to care and even if they do, if you are good at your job it won't matter.
TL;DR buy a Miata or an s2000 and enjoy driving. Those Mercs are terrible, terrible cars

A miata looks like a gay hairdresser car and a slk with some extras looks solid, stop coping.
Not gonna lie there are a few miatas that look good with enough extras, put its just a tiny car no matter how you make it look like.
>Business meeting
At the local dominoes?
For awhile I really considered getting a VW Eos but VW doesn't make them anymore and they seem difficult to find used.
I suspect even new the Eos would be cheaper than anything Mercedes would sell.
>>14824390
>VW Eos
Those look freaking boring imo.
This is sweet imo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2eH4uEsRLA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb6FrkWu9Zg
cant find anything that beats it for the price
>>14824559
I wish VW would bring back the Cabrio which is basically a convertible Golf.
I have a '96 MK3 one and despite how gay it may look it's really fun to drive and grips the curvy roads in my area really well.
The only thing is I wish the ABA engine had some more power to it because you can really feel the impact by having more than a couple people in it.
>>14824604
>'96 MK3
there was a hardtop convertible?
>>14824631
No though I wish there was.
AFAIK VW only made the Cabrios with a rag top, but I mentioned it since the subject of VW convertibles came up.
>pic related but not mine.
>>14824604
>>14824675
You know VW still sells a Golf cabrio anon
>>14824691
SO that's what happened to the Eos; VW started producing the Golf Cabrio again.
Fuck year!
So any more options?
So far I can't find many more options of hardtop convertibles under 10k€ besides the SLK.
I wonder why the fuck honda never released a hardtop convertible s2000. I just can't stand the phaggy targa tops.
>>14820310
the pink one is really nice
>>14825149
The fuck.
Why not import a cappuccino? If you're not burger you might not even have to import it.
>hard top
>convertible
>targa top
>tarbo
>>14820310
>>14825339
I don't need to google this to know it's not 10k€ or less
>>14825233
This looks TINY. Same vibe than the Miata. A SLK looks more like an actual car and doesn't have this GoKart feel.
>>14825233
Not to mention the right side drive. Horrible. If I could stand that I would save money and buy a Skyline.
>>14825345
im pretty sure it is
>>14820310
fiero with a bodykit
how's z3 regarding reliability? i know it's a bmw and >bmw >reliable but seriously
>>14825450
noone says bmw's are unreliable
bmw's are very reliable, and long lasting.
It's just that maintenance is kinda expensive for some people, especially outside of the US.
>>14825460
maintenance is reliability you fucking retard
more money to maintain vehicle = less reliable
>>14825470
No, reliability is how OFTEN parts go wrong with the vehicle itself, not how much it costs.
In regards to bmw's, things rarely eat shit, but when they do it's expensive.
You are referring to maintenance costs, not reliability.
This miata looks pretty badass, but it would look like a miature next to the SLK thats why I tend to go for the SLK
also with the Miata, I can't never run like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb6FrkWu9Zg
110CV for miata is just too little
So if no one has better options, I think I will buy the SLK230K
im dead serious im buying a car here
unless someone can convince me of a better option, i'll get a SLK230K
holy fuck
