OK guys. I'm getting tired of my light pickup. It's served me very well hauling way more than it should and has never left me stranded. It's in great shape. But my only complaint is the lack of power.
I don't really want to move to a full size pickup because of the gas mileage. But it seems it's my only option to have any sort of real power. But I don't want a fuckhuge truck. I've never felt comfortable in a full-size pickup.
Any suggestions? Must be 4x4.
Magnum Dakota maybe. What's your budget.

Maybe 5 to 7 thousand.
Not a fan of Dodge. I've worked on too many Dakotas.

Fucking gay as fuck. Heeps can't haul or tow. Plus they are unreliable and ugly.
Stop shilling.
>>14817753
Colorado with a 5.3 is probably your only other choice then
>>14817746
Shit power

How bad is the 4cyl? I found one with 113k miles for $3900.
The rest are 8 to 10k
>>14817795
Just as gutless as your Mazda that's why I said Magnum Dakota at first since I'm a Mopar guy specifically since you get them much cheaper rusty. It may take you a long time to find a V8 Colorado you'll be happy with in your budget but keep at it one will pop up.

The Colorado surely has more than 121 hp, 149 lb·ft
one of these

V6 Tacoma, try for a 2nd Gen (05 and up)
Those fuckers haul especially coming from a 4pot.
>>14817841
My Mazda can haul and tow more than a heep. And the g6 is known to be insanely reliable. Kill you're heep fag.
>>14817845
Dat price and high mileage though.

It'll be the most powerful midsize truck in OPs price range I dunno what you would suggest.

5 cylinder Cheby Colorado.
It's just an LL8 I6 with 1 cylinder missing.
>daily reminder the 4.2L LL8 I6 was on Ward's 10 best engines list.

It's gonna be your best bet. And the 5 cylinder engine sounds glorious.
If you're willing to search long and hard, the Colorado WAS available with a 5.3L LS V8, but the V8 trucks were all 2WD regular cabs produced by GM Performance Division, so they're not suited for hauling either... unless it's hauling ass.
>>14817924
I drive them all the time. I just don't like to
>>14817731
Place a light pickup body on the frame of a full size short bed or bronco.
>>14817855
I wouldn't worry about mileage on anything 05 and up unless it is over 200K. The price will be well worth it if you are patient and take your time selecting one that hasn't been abused.
Look for old farts selling theirs and try for it, in most cases they are mechanically immaculate.
>>14817731
Gen 2 Tacoma, the V6 gives you plenty of power, and if you find one with a long bed it's a good size for hauling
I think first gen tundras are good hybrid of full size and mid-size
Feels smaller than the other full-size trucks of the era but still has V8 power Gas mileage is a mediocre 16-18 mpg though. Also it can be hard to find one for a reasonable price that doesn't have a gazillion miles
>>14817993
Fuck I forgot it was 2016, I would say maybe 2007/8 would be the cutoff for that mileage. Tons of 05-08s will be around or above 200K by now.
Anyways, provided they are taken care of they will keep on chugging, I have 257 on my 03 2.4L and just replaced the original clutch, and the u-joints.

hilux and l200 are work trucks all across the world. Extremely reliable and easy to maintain vehicles.

L200 trash doesn't exist in America
The hilux is the tacoma in America.

I've driven many rangers. Just don't like them.
>>14817731
>because of the gas mileage.
>light pickup
Who told you light pick ups get good gas mileage? Why don't people understand that hauling anything will instantly kill the mpg
Lack of power? Get a diesel
>>14817753
The only real pain in the ass repair I've had to do on one was changing out a heater core. The engine and drivetrain work is all pretty standard.
I love the torque curve on mine

I get 22mpg with 1500lbs of wood in the back.
Stfu moron.
