I've got about 12k to spend on my first car. It will be my only car, so it needs to be a daily driver. To and from school/work, groceries, etc. So there's that.

Then here's this. I'd like it to be fun, but not become a money pit. I've been looking at used BMWs and V6 Mustangs, but I can't help but think that those would become a problem sooner than later. What are my options? Can Are my expectations too high for $12k?

Every car becomes a problem sooner or later buddy.

I think you should use 6k or 7k for the car and save the rest of your money.
If you're stuck on BMW's, you can get a decent early 2000's 325i or 330i for 4k or 5k
Avoid the v6 mustang, everyone will mock you.

Can you buy older Genesis Coupes for 12k yet?
>>
Lexus anything.
>>
>>14804563
That makes sense. I gotta say though. I'd be really worried about buying a car that old. The ones I've been looking are are 07-08 models and they have 100-150 kilometers on them.

>>14804572
That's been a tempting idea. I hear they're by far the most reliable car on the road. I sure would love to not have any sudden bills coming my way.
>>
09-10 Acura TSX. Fully loaded, good MPG, fun to drive and reliable as fuck
>>
>>14804660
I used to look at Acura models, but I was turned away by the FWD. At this point, I just want something that works, so I'll probably dive back in. I'd likely be better off with a Lexus or Acura.

Lexus Express Technician here. DO IT FAGGOT. Get an SC 300 for 3 grand, drop a turbo in it, a body kit is only 600, pocket the rest. Sweet sweet turbocharged 2JZ goodness in a reliable package that also happens to be fantastic on the track.

Don't get an IS if money is a concern, they run through tires and brake rotors like candy.
>>
>>14804778
I don't want to be making any modifications and crossing off the IS is essentially crossing off 80% of the Lexus models in my area. What could cause a car to burn through tires and brakes?
>>
Get a new edge gt for like 6 grand
>>
>>14804499
Why would V6 Mustangs become a problem? BMWs I understand, but I don't think I've ever seen any kind of Mustang become a money pit.

>inb4 becuz le ford xD
>>
>>14804794
It's the way they ride, basically. They wear the tires out unevenly, even with rotation. As for brakes Lexus pads and rotors are a bit softer than normal, if you replace them with non Lexus parts make sure you get matched pads and rotors.

Buy a wrx.
Fast fun and reliable. Should be able to get one well within budget leaving you money for any maintenance. Yes they have all been raped their entire lives but they really can take it as long as they have been serviced decently.
>>
>>14804821
Also used IS 300 tend to have completely trashed interiors with cracked windshields. This is why if your target demographic is rich people you do not market a car to their children.
>>
>>14804806
I've heard that buying a used Mustang can be hit or miss because it's likely that the previous owner drove it very hard. I'd probably be charged insane rates for insurance too.

>>14804821
Is that a design flaw?

>>14804835
With that, I'd be worried about insurance costs.
