What is the most "manual" car you can buy that was made in the last 30 years? The most analog, the most mechanical, the most switches, the most levers, the most shit to can micromanage without a computer to help you do it.
>>
Jeep Wrangler with 12 lights on it?

Something with a carb and a manual choke.
>>
>>14804213
Pretty much any Lotus 7 based it car.

Opel Corsa A
No assisted anything.

I've got a manual, base model 1987 Ramcharger that literally has one wiring harness, a floor shifter, transfer case selector lever, a toggle for the lights, a toggle for the wipers, and that's it. It doesn't have a/c, has an old ass case the player with only an AM antennae. Carb is mechanical, one wire from the battery to the engine.

Plus side is, it's indestructible. Just don't test it. No air bags and full steel body.

2016 land rover defender
>>
>>14804859
I refuse to believe this interior is in a 2016 car.
Things cannot go so right.
>>
>>14804872
Shame they've been killed off because "muh pedestrian safety".
>>
>>14804886
Wait what? How?
Sounds like a shame. The plastic interior looks straight out of a 90s car. Reminds me of my gramps' Jeep. Can't remember what model it was but any time he went off road it felt like a mad and dangerous expedition, especially when you are 6 years old. I think it ws a Cherokee.
Big plstic interiors with these large buttons and heat control still give me feels.
>>
>>14804859
THATS a 2016 Rover?

Someone call an ambulance, I'm dying.
>>
>>14804918
t. [the current year] and it hasn't got an ipad in the dash
>>
>>14804922
There was a model that was all luxuryed up but you could still get it farm spec
>>
>>14804859
I love this.

Hard to believe this is the same company who builds self-propelled fashion statements for women born into wealth.
>>
>>14804940
With their demise and Land Rovers move into over complicated luxury SUVs it has left the UK rural community without a decent mode of transport that isn't a pickup.

Luckily theres enough old land rovers and parts around (thanks to the military as well) that the old ones will still be around for a very long time.

I just cant see an old farmer rolling around in the new blobby safety conscious, emissions restricted defender. Atleast it will still be good offroad if Rovers track record with new suv's is anything to go off.
>>
>>14804965
The prices are going to go mad though. I'm thinking about picking up a td5 that I don't need or really even want as a sort of investment.
>>
>>14804972
Unless its low miles i think its going to take a fair while for the prices to move significantly.
Plus the military will eventually stop using them which means thousands of ex mod land rovers will suddenly flood the market.
>>
>>14804872
>>14804908
Landrover as a division of some other conglomerate whos name i dont remember have decided the defender is no longer what landrover make.

>>14804918
2014. it was shitcanned in 2015 iirc.

>>14804940
Due to the ownership of landrover changing they are now exclusively a luxury SUV manufacturer and no longer build the defender. Filthy famers dont match their brand identity anymore. (and most of them own toyotas now anyway)
>>
>>14804418
Also no synchromesh. I can't think of anything more manual than double declutching every single gear change
>>
Go get a private pilot license and buy a used Piper

>throttle
>prop pitch
>mixture
>choke
>trim
>fuel tank selection
>flaps
>landing gear

All stuff you get to play with
>>
>>14804997
I thought it was because of all the EU regulation, the defender was just too angular to survive the modern era

That's awesome.

A lot of trucks are still pretty damn basic. Well, definitely before 2008 or whenever they did the emissions bullshit. All the mechanical and pneumatic operated shit and you can still get a gearbox without synchros.

Make it another switch or cover it with a safety plastic protection.

There aren't 2016's Defenders.

Production stopped in 2015.

And that's period and final. I know what I'm saying. Not even open to discussion.

Not a 2016 model.

Production was shitbinned in 2015.

They are land rover Defenders that were produced in 2016. They are 2016 land rovers.

The McLaren F1 was 100% analog wasn't it?
>>
>>14805791

They are 2015 models. Nothing was changed in production and/or design to warrant them a 2016 model status.
>>
>>14805025
nothing was stopping them from just stripping a discovery down to basic parts, fitting a rugged interior and moving from there.

They still build the discovery to this day as a luxury suv. the defender is no more.

also; if the defender hat to be killed for EU regs, how can the Mercedes G-Class still exist?

A '84-'89 Porsche 911. Even when new it was considered very old-school, analog, and mechanical.

Even the 2005-2012 Porsche 911 (997), the last of the hydraulic steering and truly mechanic stick shift, feels relatively analog and mechanical by modern standards. The 2013+ Porsche 911 feels leaps and bounds more modern; the step from 997 to 991 was as big as the step from 993 to 996.

>>

If it ain't broke why fix it?
>>
>>14808799
IIRC it was because of emissions standards, not safety.
>>
>>14804859
someone explain to me why these cost so much?
>>
>>14804213
The problem is it couldn't be a production car.

Modern manufactured vehicles have to adhere to modern emission and safety requirements to be legal for sale.

This includes incredibly strict emission output regulations that quite frankly, cannot be achieved without the ECU regulating your fuel and air.

Traction control is becoming mandatory worldwide soon, and they're even talking about requiring automatic electric parking brakes on all future vehicles.

I certainly agree that I miss the old twin carb V8's front engine, rear wheel drive, no power steering, manual everything hot rods... but the only way you can have those now is 1: Restore a classic or 2: Build it yourself (and even that might run into a few legal issues)

Pricing it out of the hands of the suburban suv market who will just whine about the lack of creature comforts and give them a bunch of bad press.
