If you're gonna put yourself through the pain that's owning a 15 year old Volkswagen that was the equivalent of $50-60,000 today, at least get a S4 2.7T 6spd
And get a garage/good aftermarket alarm. S4s don't have immobilizers while 1999 2.0 Jettas/Golf's (MSRP of $15-18k) did. About as easy to steal as a Civic.

Put it in a climate controlled garage and drive it a few miles every week, changing fluids twice as often as you should. If course, this will destroy any DD-ability but it'll be totally worth it in 30 years
