automatic cars are best. you only think manual is better because you try to convince yourself that you're manly.
>>14796752
You have no idea what you're talking about, kid.
>>14796752
best?
they're heavier, more complicated, harder to repair, and more expensive.
Why does everything have to be a dick-waving contest? Just drive what you like, for fuck's sake.
>>14796791
i'm not a kid!
>>14796801
>more complicated
what's so complicated? one pedal to move, one to stop.
>harder to repair
just take it to the mechanic, anon.
>and more expensive
if you can afford a manual you can afford an automatic, too.
checkmate!
>>14796831
>just take it to the mechanic, anon.
Off the board, now.
the baitest of baits...
>>14796752
So why did you post an Autobianchi A112 that has only been offered with manual 4 or 5 speed?
I wish sage was still a thing
>>14796864
you know what's better than sage?
not posting
>>14796831
Since you obviously are under 18 and don't have a drivers license you should just stop posting.
>>14796846
people who have no idea how to use a toolbox have their place here, too!
>>14796853
don't try to change the subject, anon. you won't fool me with your vehicle recognition app.
>>14796882
stop posting
>>14796888
no u
>>14796882
i'm well over 18, anon. attacks on my person only confirm my suspicion that manual drivers have no real argument.
>>14796902
The argument in question is control. A manual gives you more control over the vehicle than an auto, even if modern autos have faster 0-60 times, better laptimes and score better MPG numbers.
>>14796918
stop posting
>>14796918
the only thing that resembles "better control" in a manual is that the car can't go faster until you upshift. other than that, it's easier to control an automatic, which is why it's the most common transmission type (aside from in europe, because they're a bunch of snobs).
>>14796752
shame on (You)
>>14796950
In an automatic, a computer decides your shift points and ratios. With a manual, you're the one in control of this.
And as for Europe, most shitboxes come with manuals because they're lighter and cheaper, and get better MPG than lower-end autos. Because of the way cars are taxed in certain countries, this makes the automatics a lot more expensive. It has nothing to do with snobbery.
I'm starting to feel like you're just shitposting though, and you're just gonna dismiss my arguments with "but auto is better anyway".
>>14796885
You don't need an app for that. They are (were) fairly common in some parts of Europe. And honestly, I wouldn't imagine that late 70's Fiat automatic transmission fitted to a subcompact would be a tolerable way of selecting ratios.
>>14796918
>faster 0-60 time
>better laptimes
Non of that is true except for duel clutch transmissions. Automatics in lower priced segments are designed for fuel efficiency and ease of use, a 5-speed manual will blow shitty slushboxes and CVT's in the dust. They simply don't leave the driver with much control on keeping within the power band and are slow to respond.
>score better MPG numbers
EPA estimates are debunked and hardly represent real life fuel economy. Automatics barely beat manuals in some tests and it's only because of the insane amount of gear ratio's plus start/stop engine technology. I guarantee you if manuals got the same stuff there would be little difference.
>>14796972
newer automatics shift just fine, anon. also i hardly believe that eurofags (the non-poor ones) have financial difficulties in buying and maintaining an automatic. people do it in japan, south korea and even in israel, where it's probably way more expensive. eurofags just cling to manuals because they're used to them.
>>14797091
Newer automatics shift just fine, sure. Doesn't take away the fact that a computer decides when to shift, and what gear to shift into.
>>14796752
Better for weekend driving!
Now stop baiting, please. You know how "special" this board is when it comes to bait.
>>14797158
>You know how "special" this board is when it comes to bait.
you have no idea how spoiled you are
enjoy it while it lasts
>>14796801
>heavier
auto trans are light as fuck. aluminum cases and no planetary gear set. also flexplates (for an auto) is lighter than a flywheel (for manual). torque converters are pretty heavy though.
>harder to repair
automatics are easy as shit to repair and diagnose. also build, rebuild, etc
>more expensive
automatic cars are always cheaper. my LS1/4l60e Pontiac Trans Am cost well under half of what a manual 6 speed T/A would.
oh and you can rebuild a 4l60e automatic for like $100. it's not hard
>automatic
>convertible
the worst of both worlds. I get way less MPGs than a coupe. Consumption is even noticeable with a 20km drive.
>>14796972
>computer "decides" when to shift
meaning predetermined algorithms based on throttle percentage, RPM, vehicle speed, engine load and etc decides when to shift.
auto muscle car
>put in 2nd gear manual selection
>perfect shift into second every time based on throttle input
at 70% throttle my car will shift right at 5000 rpm. 100% throttle is always 6000 rpm redlined
also manual valve body control increases line pressure, improving shift firmness. you have full control over what gears you're in at what time with manual selection
>tfw the parts store kid tells me i'm "really missing out" in my automatic muscle car
cringe
>>14796752
right back at you loser
>>14796972
only burgerland have an greater ratio of autos vs manual, in the rest of the world manual are 80% or more of market because it's the cheap poor-man basic configuration base model, automatics are luxury items and sign of prestige, that's why things like AMT where invented
>>14796752
I want a DCT myself and I drive a manual.
It's best of both worlds, you can go fast when you want and still be able to relax
>>14797323
your tyres look pretty beasht doubt they help
>>14796752
Automatic cars give me the shits, they never shift when you want them to.
>>14796803
I just drive auto because I'm dumb desu OP.
>>14796803
But half of this board doesn't know anything about cars, so there wouldn't be anything for them to argue about if it weren't for threads like this.
>>14796752
>long since given up trying to convince myself I'm manly
>>14798617
Japan is basically all auto nowadays too, senpai. Only exceptions is the sporty cars but most people drive an automatic
Enjoy your golf cart.
